It is the nature of man to always seek self-interest first. The Founders understood this and were careful to set up a balanced system.

Board resolutions: for requiring public notice, access, input during local instructional materials process; for asking the College Board to revisit and revise the new AP US History course. Worked with colleagues and publishers to make sure all instructional materials up for review include a digital public portal for the general public during the review process. Previously to review materials you had to go to one of 20 Education Service Centers across the state. No online public access was provided. Transparency and access for the public are key.

There is no more important area to serve in than the Pre-K-12 educational arena. Without educated and productive citizens, our economy and communities cannot thrive or ultimately survive. Texas educates over 5 million students. That represents 10% of the total public school students nationwide. I believe that each and every student matters not only to the future of Texas but to the future of the nation.
