What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
The Founding Fathers were men of Faith and understood the sinful/fallen nature of mankind and mans inclination to covet power. This, combined with their study of law, other governments, and their own experience with totalitarian type government, caused them to believe that power of government must be constrained and not vested in a single individual or entity, that a separation of powers or a system of checks and balance was necessary.
Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God, Voters (the people), Constitution, Congress, Supreme Court
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe that all innocent human life is sacred and should be protected from conception to the moment we all breath our last breath. The only circumstance that abortion might be allowed is in a case when the pregnancy would jeopardize the life of the mother.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I Believe that God is the Creator. He is absolutely sovereign, and is absolutely Holy. I believe in the Holy Trinity.I believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God that He was born of a virgin, was crucified and rose again, that the Holy Spirit lives within those who have put their faith in Him and that He will return for those who have indeed put their faith and trust in Him. I believe the Bible is the infallible word of God and provides the Christian with a "roadmap" for life. Possessing a Christian Worldview defines how we live in the world, how we respond to situations and how we treat people. It demands of us that we love people and live out our faith before men with integrity, honesty and boldly proclaim truth.
Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?
Conservative
Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.
I spent 3 years in the State legislature and 12 years on the Snohomish County council advocating for limited government, defending the right of parents to make decisions in the best interest of their children ( I sponsored legislation to provide school choice which did not get a hearing), defending the institution of marriage (I co-sponsored DOMA which became law), protecting innocent life(I co-sponsored a bill to eliminated partial-birth abortion and other pro-life legislation), and protecting our God-given rights of the people from over-intrusive burdensome government, fighting against excessive regulation and new taxes and tax increases.
