OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Do you support the proposed $850 million bond in its entirety?

No

The $850 million bond is broken into 6 propositions. Which one is most important to you? 1. Streets, bridges & Sidewalks - $446,263,000 2. Drainage & Flood - $138,988,000 3. Parks & Recreation - $187,313,000 4. Library & Cultural - $24,025,000 5. Public Safety Facilities – $34,411,000 6. Neighborhoods – $20 million

Public Safety Facilities

Which of the above six propositions would you vote against? (list all that apply)

There are positives and negatives to each part of the bond. On a whole I think its a bad deal. I do plan to vote no on each of the bond issues. This will determine what the new city council does before they even get in office.

Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

No Answer

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Neutral

The more people live by Judeo-Christian values, the less government is needed.

Neutral

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.

Disagree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

More restrictive gun control laws are needed to protect public safety.

Strongly Disagree

Planned Parenthood should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Individuals should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on their "gender identity."

Disagree

It is inappropriate for a local government to recognize the terms “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” and issue rules relating to an individual's beliefs about gender and sexuality.

Strongly Agree

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

There should be strict enforcement of federal and state laws prohibiting the distribution of obscene pornography, including over the Internet.

Agree

I support tolling existing highways that have been previously un-tolled.

Strongly Disagree

Government should not discriminate against individuals, organizations, or business owners who affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Marijuana should be legalized and regulated like tobacco and alcohol.

Agree

Considering these issues (social, economic, education, transportation, water or sewer), which is the most critical to our city?

Economic: it is causing all of San Antonio's Problems.

Please list up to six issues or projects that you feel need the most attention, in priority order.

Transparency: For Democracy to be legitimate, authentic deliberation must precede it. Decision makers must be free from distortions of unequal political power, such as special interest groups. When they influence our policy makers, they destroy the very foundation of our society. PUBLIC SAFETY: I believe in first responders and their efforts to make the city safe for all of us at great risk to themselves. I believe that everyone in the community should come together and discuss best practices so that any public safety plan is open, transparent, and accounts for the viewpoints of all affected, especially the opinion of those working in the frontlines. This will increase community bonds and allow us to honor those who risk their lives.

I own one or more firearms.

Yes

I support the use of Collective Bargaining.

Neutral

I believe the current City Manager should be replaced.

Yes

Did you contribute 10% or more of your gross income to charity last year?

Yes

If you own a business, please describe.

No I do not, I do have my M.A. and B.A. in political science. While I could have stayed in Academia I decided to go go into the private sector. I've gotten to apply those theories I've learned in real applications.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Man is driven to accomplish great things, when motives are pure and outcome is driven by humility and Godly intent there are no limits in what we can do. However, man can be driven by ego over modesty, there are people who lust for power. They want to make the world in their image. By limiting powers and creating checks and balances, our Founders ensured an environment where no one man could rule over another. They ensured we would be equal before the law.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I'm a Christian and these core values are what help me make it through this world; Honesty, one should expect it not from others but from yourself; Respect, be courteous to all people; Courage, you must not live life afraid, its risky but it makes life wonderful; Honor, the decisions you make and how they are carried out are a reflection of who you are; Compassion, when you train and educated yourself you become more then the average person, you must help people at EVERY opportunity; Sincerity, when you say you will perform an action it should be as good as done; Loyalty; to everyone you are responsible for you must remain fiercely true. Liberty; We are given free will, with this we must convince others to find the way. Not by force, but by our actions.

Additional comment from candidate:

We must seize this moment to make a difference in our community. President Reagan spoke of the shining city on a hill. A tall, proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, windswept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace; a city that hums with commerce and creativity. This dream cannot happen without reinforcing the very foundation on which our great nation was built, liberty. We must reclaim the liberty to make the right decisions for our family, the freedom to support the organizations that match our values, and the choice to live with honor and fight for justice, for ourselves and in our communities. San Antonio needs those who are willing to rise above their circumstances into positions of leadership. The world is in desperate need of those who show strength in difficult times.I need your help. Volunteer, donate, vote! Make a difference with me. Let’s make San Antonio into the shining city we know it can be.
