QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

I support current Texas law as passed by the Texas Legislature. It should only be allowed in those few cases where a credible medical doctor has determined there is a legitimate threat to the life of the mother and there are no other options.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I agree with the current Texas law. Many in the medical community and people of faith have differing levels of agreement on this issue. It is an issue that should be made by an individual (or their legal representative) between their doctor, family and religious leaders.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

I strongly agree. Unfortunately, at this time there are no current laws in the State of Texas addressing the issue. Further, the parties have the legal ability to make the decision on their own that would be binding.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Employers should provide a fair minimum wage appropriate for their demographic area. I do not support a mandatory wage dictated from the federal government that is the same for every type business and demographic area with varying COL factors.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

Visit the campaign website for how I would approach finding waste from the Comptroller's Office. This would include: (1) Launching a local government efficiency task force to review city budgets to special district budgets to help communities cut waste and stretch taxpayer dollars; (2) Audit everything making sure every dollar is tracked and every program reviewed; (3) Make sure current technology provides transparency for taxpayers and eliminates bureaucratic delays for quicker refunds.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The separation of church and state phrase that has been used to restrict religious free speech and liberty is not in the US Constitution but rather was discussed in a letter between President Thomas Jefferson and the Baptist Association of Danbury, Connecticut. Our country was founded by individuals who fled religious tyranny. I oppose any tendency of government to encroach upon the free exercise of religion or the establishment of any particular form of Christianity.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Individuals and businesses should never be forced to provide services as long as they are not discriminating based on race or violating other laws in effect.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

(C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. Congress should work with President Trump to discover ways to bring down healthcare costs.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Neutral

I would need more details to answer this question.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes. They are our friend and strategic partner in the Middle East. Most importantly God commanded in Genesis 12:3 (NIV) "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse."

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I grew up and remain in a strong Catholic family. My daughter goes to a Baptist School. My daughter and I worship and are active members of St John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin. My faith is the foundation for all of my decisions. My faith, along with the example set by my parents, drives me to give back through community and public service.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

This is an issue used by the left to scare people to support programs that, in many cases, are nothing more than wealth redistribution schemes. As Railroad Commissioner for the past 12 years, I witnessed how they would have destroyed the energy industry with federal regulations. I fought the Obama and Biden Administrations in their efforts that would have cost too many jobs and would have devastated our economy and national security by dependence on foreign governments for our energy needs.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

A combination of sources. Fossil fuels will continue to be the dominant source for a long time. A combination of solar, wind, nuclear & geothermal will continue to improve and will be sources to supplement our growing energy demands.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

The question is very general. The short answer is to protect the innocent and law-abiding citizens, enforce the laws established by our state legislators and Congress and keep criminals off the streets.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

U.S. citizens should have very few restrictions for gun ownership in order to protect themselves. Those in the country illegally should not be able to own weapons. If someone is proven through appropriate medical diagnosis to have mental conditions that make them a threat to others there should be restrictions. I support current Texas laws that prohibit persons convicted of certain domestic assault crimes, crimes of violence or felonies from gun ownership.
