QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
If the mother's life is truly in danger. Adoption is a much better alternative if a mother or parents do not wish to keep a baby under any other circumstance.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Non-Essential spending unrelated to infrastructure, public safety, justice/judicial system, education, certain water and agricultural purposes, should be considered for reduction. However, even within the categories just mentioned, there are efficiencies that could be found. An open checkbook is not healthy.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
It means the government should not intrude into the church and seek to control or run it. It does not mean the church should not be allowed to have a positive influence on the state. It also does not mean the politically correct method that is daily applied by and through government and so many people today.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Healthcare coverage should not be mandated. Government should ensure insurance companies and providers are not taking advantage of customers/patients and should allow individuals to make their own decisions about what is best for them and their family.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Those who have lawfully gone through the established process. Illegal immigration laws should be enforced.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am saved only by the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ and apart from Him I am nothing. When I was five years old, my Dad explained that I was a sinner and told me I needed to believe on Jesus for Salvation. I accepted Him into my heart, but did not understand about living for Him daily until my college years. I finally realized it is not a "Sunday only" thing, but you must live for Christ Monday through Saturday and in all aspects of your life. I am now married with four boys and my wife and I are committed to nurturing and admonishing Godly principles into our sons and any additional siblings they may have one day. Proverbs 3:5-6 is very pertinent for me and I believe John 3:16 sums up the plan of God for the world and man.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
As a member of the Jacksonville City Council, I voted 'no' on whether to add special LGBT preference laws to the books. In the Florida House, I voted against a gun control measure, plus an attempt to allow hard liquor to be more easily accessible on grocery store shelves versus being sold only in separate business units.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I began following current affairs toward the end of high school and decided to run for City Council at the end of college. I served eight years locally, then realized a need existed in the Florida House for the area in which I live. Now in the House for four years, I pledge to remain a faithful voice and dutiful representative for District 12 and all of Florida, if re-elected.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your survey and I look forward to continuing to serve in the Florida House, Lord-Willing. God bless and, if you live in State House District 12, please vote CLAY YARBOROUGH on August 18 and, hopefully, November 3!
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Some cities and states with the strictest gun control laws have some of the worst gun-related crime rates. I support the 2nd amendment and do not believe law-abiding citizens should be punished for the acts of non-law-abiding citizens. The best thing to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Pro-Life legislation 2. Pro-Business legislation 3. Repeal of unnecessary regulations
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes. Racial tension is symptomatic of a lack of peace. The unrest has reached significant levels in the past, but the current boiling point seems the worst ever, by far. Events of late are bringing about more fear in people's hearts, particularly in more vulnerable populations. Only Jesus can give us peace. God help us.
