Candidate completed Abolish Abortion Texas Candidate Survey   source

During 2021 Regular Legislative Session, one of 21 Texas House members who voted FOR HR4, Amendment 10, which would have provided greater transparency on lawmaker actions by requiring record votes in committees.

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

The physical life of a mother is at risk

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

strongly disagree

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Texas needs to eliminate the property tax completely in favor of a user tax that doesn’t have carve outs.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Texas has a balanced budget but I would eliminate relocation money for corporations that want to come to Texas. I have and will continue to vote against movie funding subsidies. Appropriations in Texas is sloppy and it’s filled with waste. Each project needs close scrutiny.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

What you don’t pay for directly you don’t work for or appreciate.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

The First Amendment protects my right to speech and free practice of religion

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Never. It’s not their role. Government needs to be put back in its box

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C) Medicaid should be run by the States. Get the Feds out of health care.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Never. It's a violation of HIPAA and more importantly it's a violation of the 4th Amendment

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

America needs to take off the gloves in respect to Islam. We never make Islamic states to pay the price for this evil. Ted Cruz may have been joking but I'm not. We need to see if sand will glow. The reason Islamic nations don't mess with China even though China imprisons and kills Islamic Uyghurs is because they fear an unhinged response by China

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

God's Word says I will bless those who bless Israel.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

As a member of the Texas Appropriations committee, I voted to appropriate and additional $1.8 billion to build Trump's wall on the Texas Southern border.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

People who have a skill set and a job from countries that don't pose a threat to our national security.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." John Adams

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

There should be no such thing as a protected class.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

I authored and passed HB 3979 banning Critical Race Theory in Texas schools

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

In 1976, at the age of 15 I asked the Lord, Jesus to forgive me of my sins and to become my Savior. I hold God's Word as the authoritative direction for my life.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

No one should be able to vote without a state issued photo identification.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Limit absentee voting to the sick, elderly and service members over seas. Decrease early voting days. Increase criminal penalties for voter fraud. Allow District Attorneys in neighboring counties to prosecute voter fraud in counties where the DA refuses to bring charges.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes, if you're talking about the teaching of Critical Race Theory in our schools. CRT is state sponsored racism.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

No Reparations should be given to anyone

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A) the stronger economies, the cleaner the environment.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

It works and it's safe

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

According to the Constitution. The role of government is to secure our rights "...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

I have a record as the 3rd most conservative member of the Texas House out of 150 Members

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

https://youtu.be/Jt-sKL2n2_4, https://youtu.be/fpNHcbNDZak, https://youtu.be/4qjOleS2F1s, https://youtu.be/yPTEfZtbeLY

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

no

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I am an ordained minister and a servant. I've worked hard at addressing the individual needs of my constituents and making myself available to them.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

Liberals have been unsuccessful at defunding the police so now they are trying to delegitimize police. This too shall fail.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

We will not defund the police or any law enforcement.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None. People are dangerous guns are neither safe of dangerous.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

There is no such thing as gun violence. People are violent, guns are not
