QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am pro-life from conception. Liberty begins at conception and life does as well.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Government must be streamlined - go lean to reduce waste and inefficiency. Burdensome regulations must be streamlined, eliminated, and economic freedoms restored. Government must operate on a balance budget and make a concerted effort to reduce the $27 trillion in federal debt. Social security must be made voluntary for those who wish to opt out of the system. Education reforms are essential and local control reestablished. A Department of Education is not needed.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means to me that government shall make no laws infringing on religious freedoms. If means freedom OF religion NOT freedom FROM religion within our government. Currently, many states and prior federal administrations seemed to be making secularism a national religion which is absolutely incorrect. Separation of church and state does NOT mean absence of religion as liberal courts have tried to impose on us.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Having spent 28 years on a healthcare board of a not for profit health care system that prohibited abortions, and as a CPA, I can confirm that reducing regulatory burden and government interference between the patient and the physician is essential. Additionally, the role of personal responsibility for taking care of oneself is important. As a Christian, I believe that I have a personal responsibility to care for those in need. That is my responsibility and not my governments.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Immigration should be permitted for those who have the desire and willingness to participate actively in our society as functioning members of a free republic.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe that Christ is my Savior, died for my sins and that I am responsible for leading a Christ like life with the Holy Spirit looking over me.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
My voting record. I have an overall rating with the American Conservative Union that is one of the highest in the legislature. I believe that government must be limited and that individual liberties are essential to a free society.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am a CPA, with an MBA in finance with over 30 years of experience in the U. S. Marines as a reservist having served on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. I am an expert in helping keep companies out of bankruptcy and believe that the current irresponsible spending by government requires the skills that Christ has blessed me with to help keep our society solvent.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
In 2014, I walked across the United States to raise awareness of the needs of children with disabilities. For me, it was a walk of atonement and gratitude.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I have been endorsed by FOAC and A rated in prior elections by the NRA. The NRA endorsements for 2020 in the General Election are not out yet.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
I have been blessed to have 10 bills signed into law in just my first two terms. For the next term, I am working on the following: 1. Auditor General Fraud and Forensic Capability Act (HB 985 this session which cleared the House and is in the Senate) 2. Lean Government Operations (HB 1053 this session and on third and final consideration in the House in October 2020) 3. Fetal Remains Bill and Heart Beat Bill 4. Property Tax Elimination Act
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is a threat to domestic security but so is any government effort which pits races against one another. Racism is best handled within the heart and soul of the person and is embodied in our Judeo-Christian values.
