Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I have spent an entire life working with children with disabilities and as a Hospital board member. Life and the value of life are essential to society. Only the life of the mother should be a valid construct in this case. I am pro-life and believe that our very liberties require giving a voice to the unborn - to the defenseless. The pain that parents go through with such personal decisions is one of the reasons that I support a very robust adoption system in our Commonwealth.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Our free will, our collective history, and the need to balance the powers of the three separate branches of government - the executive, the legislature, the judiciary are essential to maintaining a system of checks and balances so that they very liberties of our citizens are maintained. Our Bill of Rights protects the rights of the citizen to the whims of the majority - the very reason we are a Republic versus a democracy.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My faith is very important to me. I am a Catholic. I believe that all citizens regardless of faith must be dealt with using compassion and understanding. As a retired Marine Colonel, leadership requires that I defend the defenseless including those with whom I disagree. It is important to me that I used the intellect that I have been given to legislate with wisdom, compassion, understanding and listening. I believe in the separation of Church and State. It is why I believe that governments can have legally binding contracts but Churches have marriage. It is when government attempts to function as a religion that rights are trampled on.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
To provide students with the best possible education based upon their goals and abilities. I am working to build a technology training capability in our county to help those students who are not interested in college. I taught at the collegiate level for 10 years as an adjunct faculty member and found that career counseling for students is underfunded. During my first term in office I have focused on helping high school and college students with career opportunities, access to scholarships and grants, and mentoring.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Having spent 30 years on a hospital board and hospital foundation board, I believe that affordable health care can be achieved by: 1. Reducing the cost of healthcare professional education for doctors, nurses, Nurse Practitioners, nurse aides and others involved in healthcare. 2. Provide greater access to mental health practitioners for individuals struggling with mental health issues. 3. Expand health education for our citizens to promote healthier life styles 4. Provide increased funding for causes of childhood disabilities; drug addiction, national obesity epidemic causes 5. Promote wellness examinations and physicals for earlier diagnosis of illness 6. Interstate portability of insurance products to increase competition
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Government's role should be limited to establishing the civil code for regulating the rules of commerce such as anti-trust legislation and legal issues surrounding contractual disputes. Additionally, government should provide the legal framework surrounding employee/employer litigation Fiscal policy per se should be a federal government policy as well as monetary policy the domain of the Federal Reserve but using less expansionary policies than with quantitative easing.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am a small business owner/Certified Public Accountant who specialized in keeping companies out of bankruptcy. Additionally, I spent over 30 years in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve and have served in Haiti, Okinawa, briefly in Afghanistan and in Iraq as well as Partnership for Peace with Bosnia, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovenia. I have served on numerous for profit and not-for-profit boards of directors.
