OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Abortions should not be allowed under any circumstances. I believe that life begins at conception, and the killing of unborn babies should never be allowed.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
The state constitution should limit the growth of spending to the rate of population growth plus the rate of inflation.
Agree
Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
Strongly Agree
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
The best way to bring down unemployment is to ensure that our students graduate from the public school system on a track that best suits their needs. In my years in the legislature, and on the House Committee for Public Education, I have seen first-hand that a one-size-fits-all approach to education is ineffective and can poorly prepare some students for their post-graduate careers. I have always been a strong advocate for Career and Technical Education (CTE), as well as other vocational programs, to ensure that Texas students are prepared to enter the workforce upon graduation, if they so choose. By giving students the tools to ensure that they are productive members of society can bring down drop-out rates while simultaneously bringing down unemployment rates.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
The government should play a limited role in boosting the economy. As a small-business owner, I know that Government assistance often comes with strings attached. Any interference with economic processes in day-to-day operations of a private business at the state or federal level has the potential to be detrimental to small-business owners by limiting competition and influencing the free-market principles upon which this country was founded.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Disagree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Disagree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
The increased costs of healthcare in many cases relates to the cost of pharmaceuticals. We need to create opportunities to buy more generic drugs, allow for quicker access and approval by the FDA and allow for access to drugs from Canada and Mexico. In addition, we must continue to work toward better inter-state policies that permit patients to seek wellness outside of state lines. Finally, we have to control costs of health care providers through transparency. For example, the explosive growth of ER centers has created a huge problem in cost containment. Standalone ER’s need more oversight. We also need to make sure that family practice providers are incentivized to provide services.
NATIONAL SECURITY
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Neutral
Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.
Strongly Disagree
I support sanctuary cities.
Strongly Disagree
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
EDUCATION
Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.
No Answer
People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."
No Answer
Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.
Strongly Agree
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Our Founders created three branches of government to allow for a system of checks and balances that ensured no one person or set of people held more power than another. Those lines have begun to blur in Washington, D.C., and we, as States, must work to get back to the basic functions of government, as envisioned by our Founders.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised in a strong, Irish Catholic household, and I have remained a devout Catholic my entire life. I am an active parishioner at Saint Martha's in House District 127, and I am an advocate for the teachings of the Catholic Church and the following of Christ Jesus. I am an active member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic-based, fraternal organization that focuses on Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I have consistently voted to ban Sanctuary Cities, protect the unborn, increase border protection, lower taxes while protecting private property rights, promote free enterprise, protect vulnerable populations of students, and defend Second Amendment rights. What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am currently serving my fourth term as State Representative of House District 127. My experience and record are very clear, consistent, and conservative. I also currently serve as the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Education, which allows me to serve in a leadership role amongst my peers. Additionally, I am currently serving my third term as an officer of the board for the Texas House Republican Caucus.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
The flooding after Hurricane Harvey devastated our community. After the unprecedented rain had ceased, decisions were made to release 74,000 cubic feet per second of water from Lake Conroe to Lake Houston. Once the water receded, more than 16,000 homes and 3,300 businesses in our area had been affected. It will be years before our community is fully restored. Until that time, recovery will remain my number one priority. As a member of the Lake Houston Area Harvey Recovery Task Force, we created and promoted the Plea for Three Campaign, which asks statewide leaders to address the community’s immediate needs. First, remediate the San Jacinto River, then reduce the level of Lake Conroe back to previous amounts and mandate local representation on the San Jacinto River Authority Board. These critical items must be addressed now, before the next hurricane season begins. I will continue to work to achieve these goals for my community.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support the death penalty.
Agree
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.
Disagree
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
