QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
100% Pro-Life.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
There is a lot of waste with taxpayer money when to comes to balancing the budget. First, I think we need to revamp medicaid for waste, fraud and over-billing practices. Medicaid consumes a huge chunk of the state budget. Also, we need to get local governments to capitalize more on shared services to keep their costs down and built public and private partnerships that leverage our tax dollars in an efficient manner.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The Danbury Baptist Association of Danbury, Connecticut sent a letter, dated October 7, 1801, to the newly elected President Thomas Jefferson, expressing concern over the lack in their state constitution of explicit protection of religious liberty, and against a government establishment of religion.I believe the First Amendment not only allows citizens the freedom to practice any religion of their choice but for government to remain neutral towards religion.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I want to see health care affordable for all. The insurance rates under Obamacare have risen significantly and limited people choices. People have not been allowed to keep their plans or choose their doctors. Also, I would make it accessible for everyone. Some counties only have a single option for insurance and that is not acceptable. We need to repeal Obamacare and replace it with a new healthcare system in America. It should be built on free enterprise. It needs to be transparent where consumers see the cost for everything up front. Pre-Existing conditions need to be covered. Government run healthcare is not the solution. Patients need to be in the driver's seat when it comes to their healthcare with accessibility, quality and affordable options when deciding their health insurance buying needs. The market place needs to be stabilized and more efficient. Reducing government/insurance regulatory burdens such as prior authorization can detract from patient care and increase costs
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Illegal immigration has been out of control for 30 years in this country. People coming from other countries as refugees or seeking asylum to escape horrific conditions in their homeland need to be carefully vetted. If they have a criminal record as a convicted felon, they should not be allowed to enter the United States. If they don't have a criminal record, they need to be in a holding center and go thru the immigration process legally. We cannot grant them asylum and then allow them to enter into the United States with an assigned court date. They end up not showing up and then become an illegal alien living undocumented in this country. This is how immigration has gotten out of hand with nearly 11 million illegal aliens living here. We are a nation of laws and our laws need to be enforced to secure our border and protect American citizens.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
As a pastor, I believe in a life of service to others. In our communities, neighbors helping neighbors is more impactful and creates a closer sense of community and awareness towards others. I am a devout Christian who lives my faith every day as a husband, father, son and brother and a retired veteran and small business owner. Living a life of good deeds and helping others is what makes our communities and our world a better place for all. I firmly believe in..... To Whom Much is Given, Much will be Required (Luke 12:48).
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I believe that our economy thrives when public/private partnerships with government work together to reduce costs/lower taxes in communities. I also support federal Opportunity Zones that will help designated economically distressed communities with long-term private sector investments by creating incentives that will produce jobs. I would like to see more tax cuts for small business/individuals while reducing the corporate tax rate even more and simplifying the tax code. We are a nation of laws when it comes to illegal immigration. Immigrants are welcome to come here legally to become citizens. They must be vetted and obey our laws while paying taxes. Our nation is one of independence and opportunity for all who follow our laws. We need walls and continued security at our borders to crack down on illegal immigrants and illegal drugs entering our country. We must protect America in our relationships with other countries. Stand with our allies and put America first.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
My education and experience as a citizen working in the private sector has given me a unique sense of how to run and manage multiple businesses. As a pastor, I have watched my church grow and created a food bank to feed the hungry in my community. I have served in our military defending our nation during dangerous times. My real estate development company has help many communities in Ohio by rebuilding them home by home. My experience from military service and religious/community service along with my business background makes me uniquely qualified for elected public office.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
As a church pastor, I believe in a life of service to others. Neighbors helping neighbors is more impactful and lasting. I have created businesses in the private sector which have created jobs for many people. My life of service started when I was 17 years old and entered the US Air Force. It was one of the greatest honors to wear our nation's uniform and protect our country against the Mexican drug cartels and on September 11, 2001. That was a dark day for the United States. However, we saw the best of America with neighbors helping neighbors by donating blood, volunteering to help others and standing shoulder to shoulder as American citizens. I started a free farmer's market which has helped to feed over 15, 000 people. I have mentored many young people in my church and community. My wife and I are foster parents. Public Service is a great calling to continue helping others. I would consider it an honor of a lifetime to represent the voters of the 78th Ohio House District.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I want to fully enforce both state and federal laws that are currently on the books. I will not support additional legislation to restrict firearms.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1) I want Ohio to be at the forefront for putting prayer and welcoming God back into our public schools. I would introduce or strongly support as a co-sponsor to restore prayer in Ohio's public schools. 2) I would propose legislation to ban abortion in Ohio and truly protect the most innocent human beings among us. 3) I would strongly protect Ohio gun owners from government overreach. I will fight vigorously to oppose red flag laws.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I think that racism in this country needs to continue to be a part of our national conversation. All lives matter and we need to work in communities to stabilize community and police relations. South Carolina is a state where shootings took place that were results of a hate crime. That state worked together to address legislation to help people on both sides of the issue without riots. Citizens and government leaders working together thru open and honest dialogue improves public safety and community relations, not riots which leads to more violence. Love, respect and compassion for others helps pave the way for peace in our communities.
