Our founding fathers were men of faith, honor, integrity, and means. They were declaring independence from a tryrannical government that had placed undue taxes and hardships upon them while denying them the rights and liberties enjoyed by their fellow British citizens. They were forced to serve the British govenment. They vowed not to create a similar situation in the newly created United States of America, but rather to create a system whereby the government would serve the people.

I'm widely known as one of the most conservative elected leaders in Texas. I've been endorsed for reelection by almost every conservative group and leader in Texas. In the Texans for Fiscal Responsibility Index, I consistently ranked at the top as the most conservative member of the Texas House of Representatives. Dr. Mike Jones of Rice University conducted an independent analysis of members of the Texas Legislature & placed me second from the top of the most conservative Texas Legislators. I've been endorsed for reelection by Conservative Republicans of Texas, virtually every Tea Party organization that has endorsed, Terry Lowry's Link Letter, The Conservative Review, Texas Right to Life, Texas Values Action, as well as former Texas Governor Rick Perry, former Governor Mike Huckabee, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Joe the Plumber, and 2nd Amendment defender Ted Nugent. Texas Right to Life named me their Legislator of the Year, and I have earned A+ ratings from the NRA and Texas State Rifle Assn.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
My life experiences, training, and education have uniquely prepared me to be Commissioner of Agriculture. 1) I am an 8th generation farmer and rancher who still earns his living from Texas agriculture 2) I am the former Chairman of the Texas House Committee on Agriculture and Livestock 3) I am a former vocational agriculture teacher, FFA advisor, and 4-H leader with an honors degree in Agriculture Education from Tarleton State University 4) I am a founder and Co-Chairman of Donald Trump's Agriculture Advisory Committee and was on President Trump's short list to be Secretary of Agriculture.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I'm proud of my record of leadership at the TDA where I have streamlined operations, increased services and response times, and done more with less. When I first took office, the TDA was not fulfilling its proper role. Today it is. Fuel pump inspections were being done only once every eight years. Today, we inspect every pump at least once every two years. We've added a credit card skimmer inspection program and reduced the number of fuel inspectors by sixteen. The Organic Certification Program had a two and half year waiting list. That was fixed in ninety days and today there is no waiting list. I repealed every mandate that previous Commissioners had placed on the Texas School Nutrition Program and returned control back to local schools and parents. Today, we are making school lunches great again. I discovered many Texas businesses were unregistered & operating illegally. I initiated “Operation Maverick” which rounded-up illegal operators and registered over 7,000 new businesses.
