QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I’ve fought for years to ensure abortion providers like Planned Parenthood get zero taxpayer dollars—not through Title X, not anywhere. In the Legislature, I wrote the historic sonogram bill that’s credited with saving tens of thousands of innocent lives and led the push to strip $23 million of taxpayer dollars from Planned Parenthood. Texans deserve public dollars that back our values and protect human life.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I have consistently fought to ensure elective abortion is never permitted, emphasizing that protecting unborn life is a core Texas value. The State of Texas must continue to support mothers, expand adoption opportunities, improve access to life-affirming resources, and guarantee that taxpayer funds are never directed to abortion providers for any reason.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
I have long held that human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death. I believe this principle should guide policy at every level of government—protecting the unborn, supporting mothers, expanding adoption, safeguarding the elderly and disabled, and ensuring that taxpayer resources are directed only toward life-affirming care. My record in public office has emphasized a consistent commitment to valuing and defending life in every stage of human life.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Agree
I believe the lives of human embryos created through artificial methods deserve the same respect and protection as any other human life. I believe these embryos should be safeguarded from purposeful destruction and that policies governing assisted reproductive technologies must reflect a commitment to human dignity. We must promote ethical medical practices, support families pursuing life-affirming fertility treatments, and ensure every human life—no matter how it begins—is treated with value.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Agree
The Comstock Act—which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs—must be fully enforced. Honoring this federal law is vital to stopping mail-order chemical abortions, protecting women from unsafe, unregulated access, reinforcing existing pro-life safeguards, and ensuring states are not pushed into accepting practices that violate their deeply held values.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
I believe wages are best set by the free market. One-size-fits-all mandates can put real strain on small and rural businesses. The strongest path to higher pay comes from economic growth, job creation, and letting employers compete for good workers.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
I believe free enterprise and the right to private property are essential to a strong and productive economy. When government protects these principles and limits unnecessary interference, businesses can innovate, create jobs, and invest in their communities. That’s how we keep our economy growing and our freedoms secure.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
My priorities to eliminate government waste are clear: streamline agencies to cut duplication, enforce strict accountability for every tax dollar, end unnecessary regulations that drain resources, modernize outdated systems to improve efficiency, and demand transparent budgeting so Texans can see exactly where their money goes. Government should be lean, efficient, and fully focused on serving the people.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
To me, separation of church and state means protecting every Texan’s God-given right to worship freely, not scrubbing faith out of public life. Government shouldn’t meddle in our churches, and it shouldn’t force beliefs on anyone. Our rights come from God, and it’s the state’s job to defend those freedoms while respecting the diverse faith traditions that make Texas strong.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
No Texan — whether it’s a family-run shop, a ranch outfit, or a lone craftsman — should be forced by the government to go against their moral or religious beliefs. That dog won’t hunt. Folks out here live by their faith and their word, and the state ought to respect that. Government’s job is to protect our freedoms, not strong-arm people into violating their conscience.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
Answer: C. Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. We must also cut wasteful and fraudulent Medicaid spending and ensure the program is used as intended—a short-term hand-up, not a long-term handout. And we must protect the promise of Medicare for our seniors who paid into the system and earned that security.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Strongly Disagree
I don’t support the government keeping some master list of Texans based on their medical problems. That’s too much power in the hands of folks who don’t need to know that kind of personal information. In Texas, we believe a person’s health is their business, not something for the state to track and tally. Government ought to protect privacy, not build databases that could be misused down the road.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The Chinese Communist Party is a flat-out enemy to America’s freedom and prosperity. They hack us, steal from us, and scheme against us every chance they get. Texans don’t bow to bullies — we stand tall and fight back. That’s why I led the charge to stop foreign adversaries from grabbing our farm and ranch land. Our soil is sacred, it feeds our people, and I’ll fight tooth and nail to keep it out of the hands of anyone who threatens our food supply or our national security.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes, our relationship with Israel is vital. Israel is our strongest ally in a dangerous part of the world, and we share a deep bond rooted in faith, freedom, and the values God laid down long before this nation was born. Texans stand by our friends, especially those who honor the same God-given rights we cherish. When Israel is under fire, we don’t back up — we stand shoulder-to-shoulder, because protecting God’s people and defending freedom go hand in hand.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Disagree
I don’t support sanctuary cities — not now, not ever. Here in Texas, we deal with the real-world fallout of Biden's broken border every single day, while leftist big-city politicians play make-believe. Sanctuary cities don’t just bend the law — they break it wide open and put Texans in harm’s way. That’s pure trouble, and we’re not signing up for it. Texas was built on law, order, and backbone, and I’ll stand my ground against anything that drags us toward chaos.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and putting power back where it belongs — with states, local communities, and the parents who actually raise these kids. Folks out here don’t need a pack of D.C. bureaucrats telling us how to teach our own. We built our schools with grit, faith, and local backbone, not federal red tape. Texas can run its classrooms just fine without Washington, D.C. sticking its nose where it doesn’t belong.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
Foreign governments should never have a single finger on American education. Not one cent, not one classroom, not one whisper of influence. Our children are a gift from God, and their minds aren’t for sale to any foreign power looking to shape America’s future for their own gain. In Texas, we guard our kids like we guard our land — with grit, faith, and iron in our spine. Education should be rooted in American values, American sovereignty, and the God-given freedom this nation was built on.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Government must fiercely defend the God-given right of parents to direct their child’s health and education. Families — not bureaucrats — are the first and final authority. In Texas, we stand firm: parents raise children, and no institution has the right to stand between a family and its duty before God and country.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
Pushing a child toward a physical or social transition defies the identity God Himself knit into them. ‘Male and female He created them’ is not a suggestion — it’s Scripture. Children need protection, not pressure. In Texas, we stand firm: parents guard their kids’ hearts, minds, and bodies, and no ideology has the right to pull a child away from the design their Creator laid down.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred, and legal union of one man and one woman. ‘What God has joined together, let no man separate.’ No government has the authority to rewrite what the Creator Himself established. In Texas, we stand firm: God defines marriage, and no earthly institution outranks His design.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Strongly Disagree
We have no business expanding gambling in Texas. Scripture warns, ‘Whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished,’ and gambling feeds that false promise. It drains families, preys on the vulnerable, and hollows out communities. In Texas, we stand like storm-forged iron: we build our future on faith, hard work, and responsibility — not on luck, loss, and empty hope.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My spiritual beliefs are rooted in a deep faith in God, the authority of Scripture, and the conviction that His design for life, family, and purpose is unchanging. I value truth, personal responsibility, and the sacred duty to protect what God has entrusted to us — our families, our freedoms, and our future. My faith guides my decisions, grounds my principles, and shapes how I serve others.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Voting is a sacred trust, and Scripture teaches, ‘Let all things be done decently and in order.’ Protecting the ballot box requires the same. Photo ID isn’t oppression — it’s stewardship. In Texas, we guard what’s precious. Every legal vote deserves protection, and no one should be able to weaken the voice of the people through carelessness or fraud.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
I am strongly opposed to giving reparations of any kind on the basis of race. Scripture teaches, ‘God shows no partiality,’ and neither should government. Dividing people by skin color only deepens wounds instead of healing them. In Texas, we believe in responsibility, hard work, and equal justice — not policies that pit neighbor against neighbor. A strong state is built on unity, not division.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
I strongly believe biological males should not compete in women’s sports or enter women’s private spaces of any kind. Scripture teaches that ‘God is not the author of confusion,’ and protecting women’s safety, dignity, and fairness is a moral duty. In Texas, we stand like storm-forged walls — women’s spaces are for women, and no ideology outranks truth, biology, or plain old common sense.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Strongly Disagree
Calling man-made climate change a global emergency is politics, not plain truth. Texans don’t spook easy — we’ve weathered real storms. We stand like iron in the dust and thunder, protecting our energy independence, our jobs, and our way of life. Panic-driven mandates cost livelihoods, shut down industries, and hit working families hard. We won’t trade our strength for policies that weaken our state.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
The most reliable way to meet rising demand is dependable, dispatchable power — natural gas and other firm generation. When the grid is under fire, they roar to life, keep Texas strong, and deliver power that never bows to the weather.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
My political beliefs have been shaped by open skies, hard work, and Texas grit. I stand for limited government, strong borders, personal responsibility, protecting families, defending life, and preserving the values that built this country. I believe in peace through strength, defending America’s interests, and guarding our God-given religious freedoms. Out on the ranch, you learn to stand your ground and fight for what’s right. I don’t bend with the political winds — never have, never will.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
Absolutely not. I’ve never been penalized for anything like that — never accused, never involved, nothing. That’s not who I am, and it never will be.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
Absolutely not. I’ve never been accused of, charged with, or convicted of any crime — not a felony, not a misdemeanor, nothing. Period.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
The goal of the criminal justice system should be to protect law-abiding people and deal hard and fast with those who break the law. Justice should be firm, consistent, and free of excuses. Folks who follow the rules deserve safety, and criminals should face consequences that hit hard enough to actually stop crime.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Of course, government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation online — no question about that. But parents still have the most important job. Nothing replaces a watchful parent who knows what their kids are doing and keeps them safe.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Agree
Sharia law and the Islamification of our communities has no place in Texas or anywhere in the United States. Our laws come from the Constitution, and that’s the end of it. CAIR - the Council on American Islamic Relations came after me for taking that stand and demanded I apologize. I didn’t then, and I won’t now. I don’t back up, I don’t back down, and I don’t bend when it comes to protecting American and Texas values rooted in our Judeo-Christian heritage.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Public safety is protected by enforcing the law-not restricting the rights of law-abiding Texans. I’ve consistently earned A+ ratings from the NRA & Texas State Rifle Association because I’ve always defended the 2nd Amendment. As Chairman of the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee in the Texas House, I expanded gun rights and cut burdens on responsible citizens. As Ag Commissioner, I’ve continued that fight, protecting the 2nd Amendment rights of Texans who rely on their firearms daily.
