OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE*

*Additional information was received after the evaluation was assigned and was not considered in the Panel Evaluations, therefore it is for additional educational purposes only.
RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Rape, incest or a Mother's life is in danger.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I have never voted for a budget that is not balanced, and I have led the charge on a constitutional spending limit and tying the budget to inflation. I believe that the federal government has failed over and over again, and should finally adopt zero-based budgeting to stop the band-aid approach they have employed far too long. This session all state agencies will be expected to reduce their budgets by 10% or more.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Our churches and our government are separate, but I always depend on my Christian values to guide me as a father, businessman and lawmaker. Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and we also protect everyone constitutionally in their freedom of religion.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I believe that medical decisions should be between patients and their doctors, not the government. I have supported many measures to reduce the burden of healthcare costs and prevent insurance fraud, but most of all, I believe that healthcare should be part of the free market and the laws and forces of supply and demand are free from government intervention.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I support legal immigration--but that means that people seeking to come to the United States need to pass a background check, prove that they have employment opportunities and the necessary skills, and that the federal government employs a true process to admit immigrants. We are the most welcoming country in the world, but we cannot live in a nation without laws.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Promotion of the LGBT agenda in public schools, including teaching of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity”, is completely inappropriate and should be opposed at the state and local level.

Strongly Agree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savoir and I believe that HE gave his life so that I could be saved from my sins, forgiven and accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am a proud conservative, but most of all proud of the conservative results I have been able to deliver as a lawmaker.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I am a small business owner, lawyer and rancher. I know the heavy burden of crushing taxes, government red-tape, and costly regulation. I have signed the front of a paycheck, and had to balance my books in good times and bad, which makes me aware of the challenges that face Texas job creators. I also worked in the Office of the Attorney General, where I dealt with violent criminals and domestic violence. I understand the best and worst of society, and I will always lead on conservative principles as a lawmaker.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Did not answer

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I am unapologetic about my support of a citizen’s right to bear arms. I have sponsored and passed many pro 2nd amendment bills in recent years, preventing unnecessary restrictions or regulations for responsible gun owners.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. In-person education I will file legislation to open up schools for all in-person education for families that want their children in the classroom. 2. Protecting Texas History I will again file legislation to protect historical monuments from being destroyed or relocated. 3. End Taxpayer funded lobbying I am filing legislation to end the practice of taxpayer funded lobbying.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

The biggest threat to domestic security is the fear mongering in the mainstream media. The vast majority of Americans want to raise their children to be good citizens, attend church and have the opportunity to live the American dream. The constant division and fear is the biggest threat to our way of lives. I believe that every human being should be valued equally and that there is no place for racism in America.
