OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

None, only when/where the life of the mother is endangered.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

During my first two terms in the Texas House, I have voted to pass a balanced budget and added billions of dollars to the rainy day fund. Due to the world wide pandemic, Texas is currently projected to have a multi billion dollar shortfall in our budget for the next biennium. My conservative budgeting approach, record my voting record backs up, will be more important than ever as we tackle a budget crisis our state has not seen in decades.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Separation of Church and State prevents government from creating an official religion of the state or forming a theocracy. Government does not have the right to create a religious tests or even force religion on individuals; however, separation of church and state does not, as the left believes, prevent government from acknowledging religion or the existence of God. Our founding fathers believed that our rights came from God, and we should be able to practice our faith in God who gave us our individual rights enumerated in our founding documents.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The best way to promote healthcare coverage in our state is to cut through red tape and get government out of the way of private entities. As with other areas of society, the more government gets involved the more expensive healthcare becomes for the private individual. Government cannot tax itself into healthcare coverage for all. We need to keep a predictable, low regulatory environment that promotes job creation in our state which will yield healthcare coverage larger portions of employees in our state.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Any law abiding citizen seeking to enter United States and become a productive member of our society should be allowed to enter our country legally. In my first two sessions, I have voted each time to dedicate $800 million to border security. The rampant crime, from drug smuggling to human sex trafficking, that takes place along our border via illegal immigration is neither compassionate or in the best interest of public safety. As a state legislator, I cannot make immigration reforms for who is allowed to immigrate to our country, that is the role of a federal representative, what I can do, and pledge to continue doing, is dedicating the proper resources to our state law enforcement agencies to ensure they can continue to protect our southern border. Keeping the crime and violence out of our great state.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Promotion of the LGBT agenda in public schools, including teaching of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity”, is completely inappropriate and should be opposed at the state and local level.

Strongly Agree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Sinner. Saved by the Grace of God.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Voting record through 2 sessions in the Texas House of Representatives.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

While education and experience are not the only qualifiers for whether some one should seek or hold office, I have a bachelors degree from Texas Tech and a masters degree from Texas A&M Commerce. I previously served on the Heath City Council from 2011 until 2016.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve in the Texas Legislature outsie of being a husband and father. I appreciate the opportunity to serve and look forward to making a lasting impact in the coming session.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The 2nd Amendment guarantees our right to keep and bear arms. That said, I do support restrictions against persons who have violated their social contract with society, such as violent criminals, those found mentally ill by a court of law, and felons. As a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety during the 85th session, I was one of the few members who voted for any form of constitutional carry in Texas.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Pro-Life Legislation School Finance Reforms Additional Property Tax Relief

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No. While racism has not been eradicated, it has not been acceptable in our country for quite some time. Protections are in place to bring the full force of the law against any who commits a crime motivated by race, while employment educational protections are in place to ensure a person cannot be disqualified for a position due to their race. Opportunity is afforded to everyone in our country equally regardless of race, it is up to the individual to pursue and take advantage of opportunity.
