What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
We should first and foremost on the world stage, be engaged in diplomatic efforts, and when necessary military actions to protect the safety and security of the American Citizen. Americans have grown weary of Wars without clear and direct purpose and impossible rules of engagement that put the lives of our American Soldiers at risk every day. The rules of engagement should be set to protect the American solider first. Radical Islamic terrorist organizations and ISIS are a clear and present threat to American’s both home and Abroad and to our allies. They should be treated as a direct enemy and handled as such. The Congress of the United States has a duty to the American citizen to make a declaration of war in any engagement of a foreign enemy, whether a state or a terrorist organization, with a clearly named enemy and objective and scope of that declaration.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Mankind's nature of sin. The founders clearly had in mind the sins of gluttony, greed, pride, and envy, among others that made them forge a new form of government, like none other previous to ensure the elected representatives of the people would have the proper checks and balances to prevent the government from behaving only in its and its members interest and not the peoples interests. In spite of those checks and balance, we have today an out of control federal government.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Christian, Catholic. I believe in God the Father, Jesus his son and our savior, and the Holy Spirit.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
My Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Marter4Congress/ contains post of my opinions and public appearance and speeches since first entering into a federal campaign vs. then incumbent Senator Mark Kirk. As well my personal FaceBook account "James Marter" contains the same. All post on both were done as public. And very few if any have been deleted or removed. Also, as federal candidate in 2015/2016 and now in 2017/2018 there are numerous news sources which have reported, interviewed, and documented my views and positions.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
The unconstitutional un-Affordable Care Act needs to be repealed. The formerly free Private insurance market has been devastated by the PPACA. Prices have soared affecting millions of American Families, like mine, now in excess of 300% since the passage of the PPACA. It is NOT OK for the Government to demand of its citizen's that they must purchase a “product” in a government manipulated and controlled non free market-place, which you cannot see, hear, touch, smell, nor taste, which cannot guarantee any services, which comes with exorbitant ever increasing manipulated prices and deductibles, which no working American can afford. Constitutional and market based reforms need to be enacted: a) restoring free markets (e.g. prescription drugs) b) portability of insurance across state lines; from employer plans to employee c) tort reform d) equalized tax free treatment of health care costs individuals. e) allow all Americans to directly participate in tax-free Health Savings Accounts
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Unleash the economy by eliminating regulations, lower taxes on individuals and businesses by implementing a 10% flat tax on both. Repeal the un-Constitutional and un-Affordable Care Act. Thereby repealing the largest tax increase in American History. End both unnecessary and unconstitutional bureaucracies and functions of government, end the vast majority of foreign aide, cut the size and scope of the federal government, pass a real balanced budget.
What changes should be made to the tax code?
Enact a 10% Flat tax and very simple tax code. Eliminate the regressive tax code and nearly all of the income tax regulations and most of the IRS, significantly reduce the size and scope and its authority.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Unleash the economy by eliminating regulations, lower taxes on individuals and businesses by implementing a 10% flat tax on both. Repeal the un-Constitutional and un-Affordable Care Act. Thereby repealing the largest tax increase in American History. End both unnecessary and unconstitutional bureaucracies and functions of government, end the vast majority of foreign aide, cut the size and scope of the federal government, pass a real balanced budget.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
First, current recipients, and those who are close who have no other options, who paid into the system need to be guaranteed for the remainder of their lives to receive benefits they paid for and a mechanism to ensure that needs to be part of any solution. The system needs to be restored to its original and stated purpose for those who wish to remain in it. Anyone who did not pay into the system needs to be removed from it. Next this outdated, antiquated and controversial system and PONZI Scheme, needs to be replace with a modern system that encourages saving and investment growth and market based investments as opposed to the current model. Finally no one should be forced to participate, if the system is good it will be sustainable to those who wish to participate. And not those individuals who do not wish to participate. This would immediately free up a very large percentage of future liabilities which are bankrupting the current system.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
