OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

The U.S. military should wait for militant Islamic groups to directly threaten our national security on our shores, rather than eradicate them now wherever they may be worldwide.

Strongly Disagree

The United States must maintain a nuclear arsenal that is safe, reliable, modern and numerically superior to those of potential adversaries.

Strongly Agree

I support legislation such as the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) that would prohibit discrimination against individuals, organizations and small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

The federal government should establish Common Core as a nationwide academic standard for high school graduation.

Strongly Disagree

I oppose the resettlement of Syrian refugees into the U.S. without proper vetting.

Strongly Agree

Current regulations on domestic oil exploration and drilling are more restrictive than are necessary.

Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

When necessary to save the life of the mother.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

"The great security against a gradual concentration of the several powers in the same department, consists in giving to those who administer each department the necessary constitutional means and personal motives to resist encroachments of the others…In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.” James Madison, Federalist No. 5

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Conservative

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

As Chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee for Ways & Means, I have worked to shine the light of transparency on the IRS and their illegal targeting of political groups. As a result, legislation was signed into law to prevent this type of politically motivated harassment. As Chairman, my subcommittee has placed a renewed focus on fixing the rampant waste within Medicare. More than one billion dollars a week of taxpayer money is lost each year due to fraud. My legislation, H.R. 3220 would help put an end to this criminal activity saving taxpayers $60 billion per year. I have also been a leader in opposing the President’s Iranian Nuclear deal and introduced legislation passed by the House which would prohibit the lifting of sanctions. I am a staunch defender of our close ally Israel, and serve as Co-Chair of the House Republican Israel Caucus. I have consistently fought to protect the sanctity of life, as evidenced by both my voting record and public statements.
