QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I believe life should be protected as a civil right. Federal dollars should not fund abortion.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Abortion should only be an option in cases where the life of the mother is in danger and every reasonable alternative has been explored.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Disagree
Economic growth comes from innovation and ingenuity, not from big government. When people take the risk to start a business with their new and creative idea, that is when economic growth and job creation happens.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Agree
Government should ensure that there is a level playing field, reduce regulations, and keep taxes low.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is a great start to lowering the tax burden placed on American families each year. I want to work with my colleagues to continue finding ways to reduce the tax burden on Eastern Washington families.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is a foundational right, guaranteed by our Constitution, and should always be protected.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
Individuals and businesses have conscience rights that should be protected.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
The Constitutional right of people to assemble and worship must be protected. The state must not dictate religion.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I have been vocal opposing vaccine mandates. The choice to get vaccinated belongs to the individual — not the government.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Expanding access to quality and affordable medical care in Eastern Washington, especially in rural areas, will always be one of my top priorities. Individuals and families in Eastern Washington should not have to live in fear over how they will pay for their prescription medications, especially when they are living with a rare or chronic illness. This is why it is so important to stand on the side of innovation, so we can achieve more medical breakthroughs and help millions of people manage the symptoms they experience every day. I believe we should allow businesses to pool together to purchase insurance, permit insurance to be sold across state lines, and limit junk lawsuits. We should also promote healthier lifestyles, deploy new health technologies, and expand access to care in rural areas. That’s what the American people want and deserve.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
Recent events in Ukraine have shown the dangers of tyranny and its potential to spread on a global scale. I supported funding to help the hundreds of thousands of civilians fleeing this unwarranted aggression. The United States should help its allies and promote democratic values across the globe.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
America must never shy away from supporting the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel. That is why I am the co-chair of the The Abraham Accords Caucus serving as an important step towards promoting and achieving peace in the Mideast.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
China continues to grow as a national and global security threat. I was vocal recently calling out companies that have sponsored the Beijing Olympics. China has used slave labor, wage genocide, and silenced their citizens across the country. Companies in America continue to foster friendly relationships with this communist regime, and we must shed a light on this issue.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The United States should strengthen its military power to ensure the complete destruction of the radical Islamist threat.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
We must address the problems at our Southern Border. I continue to support building a border wall and enforcing our rule of law. We must address this crisis and fix our broken immigration system.
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
Securing the country is the responsibility of the federal government and states and local governments should follow federal immigration law.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
America has and always will be a welcoming country that those seeking a new life should be welcome to. The only way to accomplish this is through legal means. The United States must strictly enforce immigration law to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Choose not to answer
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Critical Race Theory should have no place in our schools. This sets a dangerous precedent in the education of our children and their outlook on our society as a whole.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe the Bible is God’s Word, Jesus is Messiah, and this is the foundation of our nation’s values of freedom, equality, individual rights, personal responsibility, and opportunity for all.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I supported legislation to strengthen the integrity of our elections.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No because America is not a racist country. We must continue to protect civil rights and opportunities for all. I believe in equal protection under the law.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
We need to flip the switch on American Energy to ensure our interests are protected. Energy security is national security. We cannot have a strong military or economy without a strong energy infrastructure. It’s time to unleash American Energy and as the Ranking Member on the Energy and Commerce committee I will always promote growing America's interests.
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
The United States has so many tremendous energy sources, sources we need to maintain American energy dominance. We need a bold, comprehensive, all-of-the-above energy strategy to win the future and secure cleaner American energy. This must include real, workable solutions that unleash innovation in hydropower, nuclear, clean coal, and natural gas to reduce emissions, prioritize energy security, and keep energy costs low.

No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
Did not answer
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Choose not to answer
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I support the second amendment. We must protect those rights for law abiding citizens while keeping guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have access. I have supported legislation to fix the NICS system in Congress and provide schools resources to keep kids safe.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
