QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Saving the life of the mother is not "elective", but a necessity. Considering the moral imperative to save human life and the immediate and long-term harm to both woman and child by ending a life, I can't think of any time abortion should be chosen.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Setting a minimum wage too high for young, entry level workers who are not households' sole breadwinners can kill the businesses providing these jobs, removing jobs from the marketplace and ultimately hurting those such legislation aims to help.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

Public monies should be invested where the return on investment is the greatest for the public.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None. Our freedoms of religion and assembly must be respected. However, individuals within churches are subject to all laws, just as any other person outside of churches.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C. The free market of health care provides the best quality and price for everyone. And as a society, we should provide healthcare for our most vulnerable.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

As my extensive shot record shows, I am not opposed to all vaccines. In our free market, an employer could have such a requirement for someone who chooses to work there. But government requiring a vaccine for normal life violates our rights.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

It is extremely important. Thousands of years ago, God said that those who bless Israel would be blessed, and those who curse Israel would be cursed. Our ally, Israel stands alone in that region of the world in holding back nations whose interests are in conflict with the United States' interests.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

The unrestrained flow of unvetted migrants, many from countries who hate America, is extremely dangerous. Additionally, placing the burden of feeding, housing, educating and employing those here illegally on our hard-working, law-abiding citizens is not fair to them.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

More choice in so many areas of our lives leads to better quality. Public, private and homeschool would all be better.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Strongly Agree

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a God fearing, Bible believing Christian. I try to make all my decisions by looking at them through the filter of the Bible. Our society suffers the further we stray from Biblical principles and values.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

We require photo ID for so many other things like buying alcohol or boarding an airplane. Voting should be no different.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Disagree

Our founding fathers were so smart in setting our nation up as a republic to avoid tyranny of the majority.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

While racism does still exist in the United States, as I have traveled all over this country, I find that most Americans are not racist. So, it is not a threat to our domestic security.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

A and C. We do need to continue to maintain our environment. But the world's most developed countries are also the cleanest. We need to ensure that environmental regulations don't stifle development and kill jobs, harming our people more than minimal environmental damage would do. And energy independence is critical to our nation's strength and survival.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

It is wise to have diverse sources that provide the most return on investment. Today, our most reliable sources are fossil fuels.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To protect the people and keep society safe and free

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

During my previous time in the legislature, the chair of a committee on which I served (from the other side of the aisle) was heard to say this about me, "I think he's very conservative, but I like him." A legislator can hold strong convictions and still be able to work with those of opposing views.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

If we are not safe and free, other things won't matter.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The Second Amendment should be respected and not abridged.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

By labeling schools as gun free zones, we advertise to those wishing to do harm that schools are the best place to do it. With appropriate training, allowing teachers to carry guns will make our schools safer.
