15. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?
I believe the Founders realized that "power corrupts" and therefore created a constitutional republic with check and blanches so absolute power would not become entrenched. Thus, the Founders' vision for America is based on the separation of powers between the three branches of government and cognizant of the fact that states and local government--the institutions closest to the people-- should have primary jurisdiction regarding laws and rules that govern civil society.
16. Briefly list three (3) political or legislative issues of most concern to you, and explain why each is important to you.
The Federal Reserve's continuing manipulation of the monetary system which destabilizes our economy. Article I Section 8 outlines the authorized duties of the federal government. Federal spending is therefore not consistent with the constitution. I will work to create a constitutional budget, which will rein in government spending and lay the groundwork for a stronger economy by ending crony capitalism. Our civil liberties are under attack by the federal government Our precious rights are hanging by a thread because President Obama signed Executive Order 13603 two years ago which would five him dictatrorial powers over the economy, and would limit the exercise of our rights guaranteed by the constitution.
17. Should abortion be allowed under extenuating circumstances? If so, what circumstances?
We should all work to create a cultural shift in this country that this dreadful procedure would only be acceptable to be used in the extraordinary circumstance to protect the life of the mother. As a US Senator I would sponsor and vote for legislation to protect and promote life and would oppose anti-life justices to the US Supreme Court.
18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.
God, constitution, voters.
19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe there is a Supreme Being; our "Creator" as outlined in the Declaration of Independence who endowed us with unalienable Rights. I did not grow up in a religious household, yet we celebrated the Jewish holidays as part of our cultural heritage. I deeply believe in several basic principles such as the Golden Rule and the nonaggression principle, which states that no one can initiate force against an innocent human being, and that force is only justifiable to defend your life and property.
