What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The desire for power and authority is deeply rooted in human nature. If harnessed for good, it can benefit society. The Founders carefully defined, separated, and limited the powers in the Constitution so that no person or group could usurp too much power or authority. By doing so, they reaffirmed the Declaration of Independence’s profession that God alone, not human beings, could unite all of those powers.

Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

God, Constitution, Voters, Supreme Court, Congress, Industry, Media

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

We need to support a culture of hope and life. The only circumstances abortion should be allowed is for the life of the mother, rape and incest. Pregnancy can be perilous for some women, particularly those with underlying medical conditions. Thankfully, modern medical advances have made this situation less common. While less than 1% of elective abortions in Pennsylvania are the result of rape or incest, state law must guarantee that no victim is coerced into an abortion by her abuser.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian and my faith is very important to me. My faith keeps me grounded, gives me strength to do what is right without fear, helps me be responsible, and keeps me humble. Knowing that we are all created in God’s image helps me find the good in every person and treat them with dignity even when we don’t agree. It reminds me that I must seek what is best for all the people I represent. When I feel particularly challenged or struggle, my faith reminds me that greater struggles and sacrifices have been made for me.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Conservative

Additional comment from candidate:

2. There are valid concerns on both sides of the merit selection of judges policy issue. I need to have more input from the people I represent on this issue before taking an official position. 14.Pennsylvania currently has a two year separation period length of time for a divorce with mutual consent, one of the lengthiest in the country. Divorce is never easy or desired. My top concern is for children who may be caught in the middle. Increasing the length of time could increase the emotional trauma children may experience while their family situation is in limbo. Those uncertainties include future custody schedules, housing arrangements and school placement. It may also escalate the conflict and litigation.
