QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
No Answer
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
In cases of incest, rape and the health of the mother. However, I also believe it is not my place as a man to tell a woman what she can do with her body.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
We need to have pragmatic policies that address the solvency of the program as well as the fact that many Americans are living longer. To clarify the latter aspect of my statement, anyone above the age of 50 would not see a major change in their benefits. There has to be increased funding and expansion of the program and less dependency on social security. Examples include federal policies that encourage private savings, use of home equity for retirement purposes, increased access to workplace retirement savings plans and financial literacy on promoting a culture of savings. In addition, to address the longevity of future generations, there should be a staggered increase in age of eligibility, for example those 46-50 would become a year older than current benefit age; those 41-45 would be 2 years older etc. The rationale is that these age groups still have time to make modifications in retirement plans.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Hard to say until I get elected. I believe in making informed decisions.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
For those serving in the military and professionals working in disadvantaged neighborhoods
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
No Answer
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The government should not discriminate against the church and the churches should stay out (officially) of politics.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Agree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Immediate solution especially with the COVID pandemic is to expand medicaid at the state level. However, we need to ask why is healthcare so expensive in the United States. It is because we practice defensive medicine whereby doctors sometimes treat labs and there is less emphasis on bedside diagnosis. Thus, unnecessary labs are ordered to avoid being sued. That said, I still believe medical malpractice cases need to be permitted but there has to be checks and balances in what is standard practice of medicine. Finally, health has to be seen more as a right than a benefit.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Disagree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
First and foremost, acknowledge that most Moslems are not radical. Secondly, collaborate with Moslem groups to change the narratives where terrorist groups recruit. Finally, we have to promote a foreign policy in the Middle East that considers humanity first rather than oil first. American interest is not only measured in dollars; it is also measured by how safe Americans are all over the globe.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Agree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Disagree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
1. Those who are here and have not committed any offense that makes them inadmissible 2. Family members of citizens and permanent residents 3. Individuals with skill sets that are of national interest.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Disagree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
No Answer
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian and I believe Christianity is a way of life and not a doctrine. My spiritual beliefs help me in my quest to become a better person. My values are focused on compassion- always seeking a great good instead of personal interest. I do not judge because judging people is essentially using your views to assess someone. We all make decisions based on our life experiences, nurturing and frankly sentiments.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
As a naturalized American, I am for legalizing groups of undocumented immigrants especially the DACA recipients. I also know that the immigration pipelines is clogged, hence other categories beyond DACA would need to get legalization. That said, if the borders are not secured, legalization would be a magnet for more illegal entries. Thus, a comprehensive immigration bill would have to include legalization of those already here and strict/total border control. I am socially conservative BUT I do not believe in any form of discrimination. I am one who believes issues are more gray than black and white. For example, I believe a woman has a right on her body even if I am conservative on abortion. Finally, my role on limited government means I tend to support less government influence.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
NO
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am running as an Independent, not because I do not have an ideology, but rather because I want to put the people ahead of partisan politics. I cherish the days when elected officials worked across the aisle for the common good of America. I will be a listener and place fairness and what is just, over party allegiance. I will only answer to those I serve and not to party leaders. I will also take bold stances instead of focusing on getting re-elected.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Conviction of felony and misdemeanors involving violence or illegal drug use.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Agree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
No Answer
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Immigration Reform: Path to citizenship for DACA recipients and other categories of immigrants and securing of the border. 2. Federal funding for expansion of state medicaid (with specific language to reduce fraud and abuse) 3. Grants to small businesses using the frame work of SBA COVID-19 loans
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
YES! Racism has caused domestic tension and sadly violence. These in turn have created domestic insecurity whereby everyone is wondering when things are going to explode.
