Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I do not believe that abortion should be allowed under any circumstances. The United States Constitution guarantees the “right to life.” Moreover, the Preamble of this document states that our unalienable rights that are protected by our Constitution and Bill of Rights are recognized by the People for both ourselves and our posterity. I voted in favor of H.R. 7 to permanently end taxpayer funding of abortion. Additionally, I was honored to introduce H.R. 586, the Sanctity of Human Life Act. This bill defines life as beginning at conception without exception. If enacted, it would end the plight of abortion on our nation.I believe that our country is currently undergoing a revival of support for life, and I will continue to fight for those without a voice – the unborn.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

It has been well-established by the U.S. intelligence community that the strategy of radical Islamic terror groups is to hide operatives among refugees from the Middle East and North Africa entering Western countries. While we welcome refugees, I believe that the fundamental responsibility of the federal government is to provide for the common defense, including ensuring those who reach our shores are first fully vetted through a reliable screening process.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founders understood the true nature of mankind that is established in the Bible and is the essence of a Christian worldview. Most of the Founders held to a biblical view that man is morally corrupt, sinful and weak but, through Christ, capable of rebirth. That conventional Christian view of man was paramount among the Founders. Both James Madison and Alexander Hamilton used the term “depravity” to refer to man’s capability to do evil with political power.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Galatians 2:20 King James Version (KJV) 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. To me personally this means that every interaction with all fellow human beings and all work that I do as a public servant should be a living testimony to my faith in Christ as my Saviour and to the miracle of salvation. I believe that God expects me, through Him, to act with integrity, humility, compassion, respect for all lives, diligence, productivity, and sound leadership- all of which is only possible by keeping God at the center of my life and living according to biblical teachings.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

“Rep. Jody Hice earns an A-plus grade for his consistently conservative voting record during a time when our country is facing so many critical issues,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “It is refreshing to have a Member of Congress who puts the Constitution first, especially when it comes to our First Amendment religious freedoms.” 2017-2018 Americans for Prosperity - Positions 100% 2017-2018 Americans for Prosperity - Lifetime Positions 100% 2017-2018 Campaign for Working Families - Positions 100% 2017-2018 Numbers USA - Positions [3/23] 100% 2017-2018 American Family Association Action(AFA Action)Positions 100% 2017-2018 Campaign for Working Families - Positions 100% 2016 FreedomWorks - Positions 100%

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

We need to increase competition to lower healthcare costs by allowing Americans to purchase health insurance across state lines, and enable small businesses to pool together to negotiate for more favorable insurance rates. We must reform medical malpractice laws in a commonsense way that limits trial lawyer fees and non-economic damages while maintaining strong protections for patients. We need to reform the tax code to allow families and individuals to deduct healthcare costs, just like companies, providing all Americans with a standard deduction for health insurance. We need to expand access to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) by increasing the amount of pre-tax dollars Americans can deposit into portable savings accounts to be used for healthcare expenses. We must also protect individuals with pre-existing conditions from being discriminated against by health insurance companies by bolstering state-based high risk pools.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

One of my top priorities in Congress is to grow the economy and create jobs, both in Georgia and across our country. We must pursue policies that will bring the American free enterprise system into the 21st century. Unfortunately, too often, burdensome federal regulations – from the EPA, the Internal Revenue Service, or the Department of Labor – prevent the very economic growth that we hope to achieve. President Trump has led the charge to revitalize our economy, and we are already seeing all-time highs for the stock market and a 17-year low for unemployment. While Georgia has been the best state to do business in for the last five years running, enacting comprehensive tax reform at a national level will unleash a modern-day edge of competitiveness to attract new businesses and help create more jobs and a higher quality of living for all Americans.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

I am a strong supporter of the Fair Tax Act. As a cosponsor of this important legislation, I fully believe that the Fair Tax will simplify the tax code by eliminating the income tax, employment tax, and estate tax – and the need for the Internal Revenue Service – by creating a simple consumption tax in its place. Until we achieve the implementation of the Fair Tax, I will continue to support efforts in Congress to reform – and shorten – the tax code to lower rates across the board and return more dollars to American taxpayers. I was very pleased to vote "yes" on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed last fall under President Trump. It is truly making a difference to millions of hard-working American families and is creating a climate for both corporations and small business owners that enables them to increase their workforce and raise wages.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

It is incumbent on Congress to seek meaningful regulatory reform so manufacturers, small business men and women, and our Nation’s innovators can put people back to work. I strongly oppose the culture of bailouts and stimulus plans that was so pervasive from the Obama Administration. These policies simply grow the size of the federal government and provide little genuine benefit to the private sector. We must never forget that it is the American free enterprise system – not the federal government – that made this country great.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

As someone who represents a large number of seniors, I take the responsibility of protecting our older citizens seriously. I’m grateful to the 60 Plus Association for recognizing my work on behalf of our Nation’s seniors, many of whom simply want a safer world, a stronger economy, and a promising future for their children and grandchildren. My votes in Washington reflect those priorities, including protecting the benefits they have earned and were promised. I remain committed to upholding our promise to the seniors of the 10th District, while placing our country back on a fiscally responsible track, which is critical not only for today’s seniors, but for generations to come.” The 60 Plus Association recently presented me with its coveted Guardian of Seniors’ Rights award, given in recognition of my commitment to America’s seniors and fiscally conservative legislative initiatives in the 115th Congress.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I serve as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and House Committee on Natural Resources. As part of the House Armed Services Committee, I serve on the Emerging Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee and the Strategic Forces Subcommittee. I am the Vice Chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Government Operations and serve on the Subcommittee on National Security. I am also a member of the Natural Resources Subcommittees on Energy and Mineral Resources and Water, Power and Oceans.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

As a pastor, I was a leader of the annual Pulpit Freedom Sunday movement sponsored by the Alliance Defending Freedom. This yearly event challenges the “Johnson Amendment” to the IRS tax code which censors what pastors can and cannot say from the pulpit. As a congressman, I introduced legislation to abolish the “Johnson Amendment.” I will continue to fight for our constitutional rights and protect our freedom of speech. I am a member of the NRA, Gun Owners of America, Georgia Sports Shooting Association, Georgia Gun Owners, and Georgia Carry. I am a passionate advocate of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. My focus and efforts in Washington also include repealing Obamacare, securing our borders, rebuilding our military to keep Americans safe, and overhauling our nation’s tax code.
