OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

To save the life of the mother

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

When Social Security was first established the average life expectancy was 64 years of age. Social security benefits were designed to begin after the average life expectancy at age 65 to reduce the total payout. With better health and longer life expectancies, this formula no longer is sustainable. For those younger than 50, an option is to continue incrementally increasing the age of retirement before beginning Social Security disbursements.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

A list of the most wasteful government programs is identified each year. That would be a great starting place for reducing spending. The EPA was doubled during the Obama administration and still needs reduction in staff and budgeting. Reforming our welfare program to include work requirements as well as block grants to the states for managing Medicare would be opportunities to reduce spending.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

Individuals have a personal responsibility for paying off their own student loans, not taxpayers.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

That the government does not impose or force citizens to believe and practice a certain religion or any religion at all. At the same time, it does not silence people of faith or prohibit them from exercising and voicing their beliefs.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Competition helps bring costs down in every other industry and could do the same in healthcare. Individuals should be able to purchase healthcare across state lines to provide competition to their in-state providers. Healthcare needs to be transportable to prevent individuals who lose their jobs, or choose to leave their jobs, from loosing their healthcare. Allowing individuals to purchase healthcare and deduct the premiums, rather than just companies, would allow ownership at the personal level that is transportable. This also protects against becoming uninsured at some point in the future and encourages better health choices throughout the policy ownership.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The war against radical Islamic terrorism is a generational struggle and will require a coordinated national security and foreign policy strategy. We need to use our diplomatic tools, law enforcement, intelligence, and military force in a comprehensive and strategic way. We must not let political correctness prevent us from staying on offense against terrorists that seek to destroy our way of life, and we must lead with strength on the world stage.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Our current system of open borders in combination with a welfare system undermines our sovereignty as a nation and is unsustainable. It is crucial that we have a secure border so that immigration is by invitation only and that we are aware of who has entered our country. During times of low unemployment, I support allowing those with job opportunities, sponsors within the U.S., a clean bill of health, no ties to terrorism or from unstable governments known for being areas of active terrorism to immigrate to the U.S. Also, those fleeing persecution including religious persecution.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian and believe in the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross. His sacrifice paid the price for my sins and provides for my salvation and reconciliation for my relationship with God.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

While playing basketball at Texas Christian University, and Bridgeport High School before that, I learned about grit, determination, and winning. They are qualities that helped me start a successful small business, raise my family, run for office and would be beneficial traits for serving in Washington. I support our president and appreciate his fighting for conservative values. His appointment of two conservative Supreme Court Justices as well as multiple constitutionally committed judges to the federal bench has helped reshape our legal system closer to our founders original intent. I've been involved in defending babies in the womb and supporting mothers for decades. I have provided financial support, volunteered as a counselor and served on the board of directors at our local pregnancy center, two of those years as president. I will use that experience to be a voice for the unborn in Washington. I would greatly appreciate your vote!

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I believe the current restrictions we have on gun ownership are sufficient to protect public safety but many of them are not enforced. Additional restrictions will not provide more safety when it comes to issues of mental health and/or intent to harm. Gun free zones are actually less safe since law-abiding citizens will be unarmed but criminals will be armed. I appreciate Gov. Abbott recognizing the right of Texans to defend themselves where they worship.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

I am committed to co-sponsoring the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. I signed the U.S. Term Limits pledge that as a member of Congress I will cosponsor and vote for a limit of 3 House terms and 2 Senate terms as well as the Americans for Tax Reform's Taxpayers Protection Pledge.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is a threat, no matter what type or where it comes from. Hate and racism have no place in our society.
