QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
None. Life is not negotiable. I do not believe in abortion under any circumstance. Almost every major Pro-Life law faces a legal challenge from the abortion industry, desperate to perpetuate its practice of profiting off of the destruction of innocent human Life. Roe v. Wade is a Supreme Court decision that we all know too well-legalizing abortion. It's a national nightmare began that continues today. However, I believe that every life matters. Our children deserve an Attorney General who isn’t going to just file lawsuits in the name of life, but one who can file suits and find innovative ways to win on behalf of our right to life.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
The murder of innocent babies should not be funded by the government in any capacity.

ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Texas thankfully is only one of nine states that do not collect state income tax revenue but the state relies heavily on property and sales tax. The Legislature should listen to their constituents when they say they're fed up paying high property taxes with skyrocketing appraisal notices. Early projections show that the next estimated revenue report will be in excess of prior budgets and legislators need to prioritize returning money instead of spending money. Reforming our budgeting process to cap spending only accounting for population growth and inflation (consistent with the TPPF Conservative Texas Budget) would help achieve a more fiscally sound and responsible system. We must continue to work towards reducing property taxes and eliminating the Texas franchise tax while imposing local spending limitations. Further, we must responsibly appropriate all federal funding received and ensure taxpayer dollars are cautiously spent.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Our economy cannot sustain the rapidly increasing cost of living and egregious inflation. While Texas has led the nation in fighting back irresponsible fiscal decisions, at the federal level, the present fiscal landscape paints a bleak image. However, it is possible to return to a balanced budget and carve out a more sustainable path. A series of aggressive cuts to discretionary spending and mandatory programs, and reduced regulations could make a serious impact on our rapidly inflating budget. Further, instituting a supermajority vote for Continuing Resolutions as proposed by the RSC, would help bring us back to a sensible style of fiscal governance.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Private businesses must have the right to refuse service. No business should be forced to provide a service if they feel that it is a violation of their moral and religious beliefs.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?
The Government should not ever be able to close down churches. We must pass legislation that prohibits our government from ever doing so again. Texans have the fundamental right to exercise their freedom of religion.

HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C. Texas should oppose Universal Healthcare at every turn. Socialized healthcare is the opposite of what this nation needed. It’s a monstrosity of a law. I supported defunding Obamacare and remain adamantly opposed to the law. I am extremely disappointed that the current Attorney General lost the Obamacare case to California. We need leadership who is going to take the leftist elites to town with cases with legitimate standing and sound legal arguments.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
The State of Texas' vaccine requirements should not be expanded. I am firmly against vaccination mandates for COVID-19. Further, our police officers, border patrol agents, and first responders should not, in any way, lose their jobs if they decide against vaccination. Private businesses should not be able to require individuals to be vaccinated for employment.

NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
As a post 9/11 veteran with a tour of duty in Afghanistan and several years in a reserve unit that focused on the CENTCOM AOR, I would recommend a ‘light footprint approach to mitigate risk through the utilization of intelligence gathering and special operations forces. To further confront Islamic terrorists, we must ally with moderate Arab nations that share a similar national security interest of eliminating Jihadist threats against freedom-loving people. We must consistently form and nurture foreign partnerships with countries that actively remove extremist groups and applaud countries that recognize diplomatic and economic ties to Israel—our strongest partner in the Middle East. Further, we must increase American energy security to mitigate against energy shocks led by countries that harbor and finance terrorist activities like Iran.

IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
We must finish building the Trump wall, extend the Texas wall, and deploy more boots on the ground. Texas has been left with no choice, we must assert our sovereignty and immediately declare an invasion of our state under the US constitution. Texas national guard and DPS troopers are already deployed to the border yet are handcuffed by our current federal policies. I’m proud to have taken historic measures to construct the Texas wall on state-owned lands.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
While America is the land of opportunity, we must prioritize the rights of law abiding US citizens over those who wish to immigrate here. We must begin by shifting away from allowing mass illegal immigration at our southern border and prioritizing immigration based on the national security interests of our country. Business should first staff their operations with American citizens and when certain sectors of the economy cannot fulfill necessary job placements (such as our agriculture and energy sectors), we should examine short-term and long term visas for those wishing to enter the country and contribute to our economy legally while paying into our tax system. In terms of asylum seekers, Congress must close gaping loopholes in law that are being abused and move applications back to a country-of-origin request versus the allowance of mass chaos on our southern borders.

VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Further, the founders inscribed our Constitution and Declaration of Independence that our rights are derived from our creator, not government.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

As a fellow parent and former school teacher, I'm concerned about fringe theories like CRT being taught in schools. As AG, I'll fight for school choice so parents can choose the best school regardless of zip code and stand as a staunch supporter of school choice.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My faith has guided my public service and my viewpoints on the world. I believe our public elected officials should actually live the way they practice their faith. It's important for me in who I am and more importantly as a father and a member of my community to lead my life in the footsteps of Christ. I was raised in a strong Christian family and learned to trust God at a young age. As any Christian knows, trusting in God is not always easy, but it’s always worth it. I’ve learned time and time again that when we lean on our faith in God, He always provides. As a father, my wife Amanda and I’s biggest priority is teaching our boys to have a strong foundation of faith. I fully believe that this is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our children. When faced with trying times, joyful times, or at any stage of life, we want them to have the same peace we have when we go to the Lord in prayer. As someone who is faced with an endless array of decisions to make every day and the responsibility of serving Texans with wisdom and integrity, asking for guidance from our Lord is the most important part of my day.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Voting ID is fundamental to ensuring free and fair elections.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
We have serious concerns regarding the security of our election process. We must: -Verify the accuracy of Voter Registration rolls -Require an ID for in-person and absentee voting -Prevent Vote harvesting -Allow election monitors complete access to the election process -Provide voting assistance -Provide the state legislature with legal standing to challenge the election results.

EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism as a whole is dangerous to our society and national security. In the words of MLK, the American dream is fulfilled when we see each other for not the color of our skin, but the content of our character. But today, one of our biggest threats is the institution of Critical Race Theory in our schools, teaching our children that every aspect of our society is embedded with racism. We cannot allow this lie to be taught in our classrooms. The more we create division within our society, the more dangerous our society becomes.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. Texas is the historic and future energy leader of the world. Through innovative responsible stewardship, we are building the Texas of tomorrow, starting today.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
We should drill on our public lands and in the waters of the Gulf; harness renewable energy sources like the sun in West Texas and wind on the plains; and we should take advantage of natural gas across the state through horizontal drilling and other innovative practices. However, relying solely on renewable energy would be catastrophic. President Biden’s energy policies send a very dangerous message to the Texas and our oil and gas economy. .

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I strongly support qualified immunity for our law enforcement officers. Proponents of revoking qualified immunity claim that it does not seek to punish “the good cops.” Regretfully, the mere discussion of removing this legal protection has resulted in smaller cadet classes, lower morale and more challenging retention conditions leaving our streets less safe. Revoking qualified immunity only furthers anti-police rhetoric and makes it harder for officers to do their jobs and keep us safe.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Our founding fathers were very clear: the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. I will always stand up for the Second Amendment and our ability to protect our families, our homes, and our businesses. Across the US, big-city mayors with unchecked powers have ushered in the most extreme anti-second amendment laws in history while violent crime skyrockets. As a card-carrying NRA member, I believe and stand by our Second Amendment right to bear arms. I believe every citizen has the right to own, carry and use guns; and this belief rests on an ideological firmament grounded in the strict interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. Any government action attempting to regulate and/or infringe on one's Second Amendment rights is an infringement not only on the individual but their constitutional rights. My philosophy honors the defense of our nation from totalitarian governments and entities abroad. Gun control policy is no different - I view any such policy to be invasive, unwarranted and unconstitutional.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
