QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I believe every unborn child deserves legal protection, regardless of the circumstances surrounding conception. In my view, abortion should be allowed only when it is necessary to save the life of the mother.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Agree
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Agree
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
I believe the best path to higher wages is a strong, growing private sector. We should foster an economy where businesses can grow, create jobs, and compete for workers, allowing Ohioans to earn more than minimum wage.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
Identifying and eliminating government waste is one of the core functions of the Ohio State Auditor’s Office. As the next State Auditor, I will use performance audits not simply to identify problems, but to find opportunities to make government programs more economical, efficient, and effective. I’ll hold bad actors accountable and use the full authority of the Auditor’s Office to investigate fraud, waste, and abuse by following the money, strengthening oversight, and exposing wrongdoing.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
To me, the separation of church and state means protecting the freedom of every Ohioan to practice their faith openly and without government interference. I believe our Constitution protects not only the right to worship, but also the right to express our faith in public life. I do not believe government should establish or compel a particular religion, but neither should the government silence people of faith or require them to leave their beliefs at the door when they enter public service.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
The Auditor’s Office does not set healthcare policy, but it must ensure taxpayer-funded programs operate efficiently and are protected from waste, fraud, and abuse. I believe the free market generally provides better solutions than government mandates, while we must care for seniors and vulnerable Ohioans. As Auditor, I’ll strengthen oversight and protect taxpayer dollars.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Neutral
On a complex policy question like this, I would need to know more details about how the information would be collected, protected, and used. I strongly value individual privacy, especially when it comes to sensitive medical information. If appropriately protected data could help identify fraud, waste, and abuse and protect taxpayer dollars, I would be open to exploring its responsible use with strong privacy safeguards.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
I've dedicated my adult life to protecting our nation from threats abroad, and I believe in peace through strength. Israel is our strongest and most important ally in the Middle East, and we must stand firmly with Israel and our other key allies. A strong national defense and intelligence community are essential to protecting America and preventing another tragedy like September 11th.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Disagree
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Agree
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Neutral
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. As a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church, I teach Sunday School. My wife and I raise our kids in the Christian faith, and our faith is central to our family and our lives. My faith has also been the foundation of my military service and career in public service. As a young man, I felt called to serve our country and enlisted in the United States Army. I believe our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles that continue to shape our values. My faith journey has included experiences across several Christian traditions, each strengthening my relationship with Christ. In difficult times, I turn to Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Disagree
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
I believe America must lead in energy production and innovation. We should expand domestic energy production, strengthen our energy independence, and reduce reliance on hostile foreign nations to protect our economy and security.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
The goal of the criminal justice system should be to protect law-abiding citizens, hold criminals accountable, and ensure justice is applied fairly and equally. We must support law enforcement, protect victims, and ensure serious offenders face appropriate consequences. As Auditor, I will bring that same commitment to accountability to taxpayer dollars and make sure those who lie, cheat, and steal from Ohio taxpayers are held accountable.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The words of the Constitution are very clear: “shall not be infringed.” The Second Amendment protects the fundamental right of law-abiding Americans to own firearms. I am a proud gun owner and hunter, and I will always stand up for the rights of responsible firearm owners. Government should protect these constitutional rights, not undermine them.
