14. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

The Founders believed that individuals were endowed with unalienable rights. Governments are instituted to protect those rights. However governments tend to accrue power at the expense of individuals. Creating a government with defined, limited and dispersed power was their solution to maintaining rights and protections for individuals.
