Remembering the Fallen

Like many of you, I celebrated Memorial Day yesterday with food, family, and a day of rest. This year my celebration came with renewed sobriety and gratitude for our fallen soldiers, especially after working on the email you’re reading today.

Below you'll find a quiz to test your knowledge of U.S. history—this time it’s war history. The quiz, of course, includes correct answers to the historical facts, but it also takes you a little deeper into stories of immense sacrifice. Hundreds of thousands of Americans sacrificed their lives, their limbs, their freedoms, and precious years with their loved ones—all for America, the Beautiful, and for you and me.

God has blessed each of us through these sacrifices, allowing us the glorious freedom to gather with family and friends last weekend to enjoy worship, rest, and the fruits of our labor, personally and collectively.

We hope you enjoy the quiz. In order to include the final question about comprehensive war history, we were not able to provide the technical function that automatically tallies your answers at the end. So as you work through the test, keep your own tally for a final score. You also may want to check out the sources we used below. Have fun testing your loved ones and sharing results and remembrances together. Good luck, and God bless!!

PS: The brilliant red poppy has been a beautiful symbol for the remembrance of fallen soldiers since World War I. Below you'll find additional sources we used to create the Memorial Day quiz.
