QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Strongly Disagree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Strongly Disagree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Not all career paths require college, therefore, the burden of government funding for a college education should not be placed on the taxpayer.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

Today, the function of the local school board is to provide local, citizen governance, and oversight of education within the district including adopting a budget and setting the tax rate. The board also adopts goals, priorities, values, and policies while monitoring its success. The board hires and evaluates the superintendent, and communicates effectively with the community.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

The original intent of school boards was to do just that, however, since that time governments have become more involved. School districts, through locally elected boards, have the authority to make certain educational decisions for their schools, including decisions about the curriculum and methods of instruction, while parents have the right and responsibility to raise their children and control their upbringing. The board should not infringe upon those parental rights.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Only when doing so would interrupt or hinder the regular business of the school board meeting being conducted at the time of such speech and when out of order. School boards should assure that parents and community members are all given adequate time to speak at such meetings.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Language Arts, Personal Finances, American History, Mathematics, Science, Vocational Learning, Art & Music, Physical Fitness, and today, focus must be placed on the newly required Social Emotional Learning component added to the TEKS to assure it does not infringe upon parents' right to raise their children and control their upbringing.

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Strongly Agree

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Agree

To improve schools, an element of competition should be welcomed. However, caution must be taken for the unintended consequences of legislating for the acceptance of federal education dollars and ultimately the strings attached to such funding.

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Strongly Disagree

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Agree

This must be instituted in a way that is safe for both students and staff. Great care should be taken to assure this is the case. Perhaps not all teachers who are licensed to carry should do so. Those with police or military service backgrounds, and those highly trained, should be considered to carry on campus first. Such teachers should participate in strong ongoing incident management and active shooter trainings.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

None. School Districts should be able to suggest vaccines, not require them, especially during a local outbreak. This is why there are opt-out forms available from the state.

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

Which of the 11 objectives specified in the Texas Education Code is your highest priority?

OBJECTIVE 5: Educators shall cultivate in students an informed American patriotism and lead students in a close study of the founding documents of the United States and Texas. The purpose of this objective is to : (1) increase students' knowledge of the deepest and noblest purposes of the United States and Texas; (2) enhance students' intellectual independence so that students may become thoughtful, informed citizens who have an appreciation for the fundamental democratic principles of our state and national heritage; and (3) guide students toward understanding and productively functioning in a free enterprise society.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Strongly Disagree

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Community Impact published my interview answers, however, this was deleted. I was able to pull an archived snapshot of the information here: http://web.archive.org/web/20211020011956/https://communityimpact.com/houston/spring-klein/election/2021/10/15/qa-get-to-know-the-candidates-running-for-klein-isd-board-of-trustees-position-5/ https://fb.watch/foIcG27n7_/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ1V8ryiFoc

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I believe I've shared who I am as best as possible along with my goal of working with the board to make impactful, effective change without compromising my values while advocating for those in the district. I am comfortable if I must be the only member voting for or against an issue brought before the board. This is quite a conservative district. Therefore, I would like to see this reflected in board governance. I have not yet seen conservative stances taken on this board though the opportunity has presented itself often.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I hold a Biblical Worldview.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

I believe that each family is responsible for teaching sexual education to their children and that the appropriate age when it should be taught should be at the discretion of parents. Therefore, if sex education is included in the district model, the parents must have the option to opt-in rather than to opt-out. Sexual education has the potential to seriously infringe upon a parent's right to control the upbringing of their child.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

If Sex Ed is taught, which I believe parents to be fully capable of doing themselves without the state, only certain components should be included that do not infringe upon the parent's right to control the upbringing of their children. These include abstinence, the human anatomy of the reproductive system, and the stages of pregnancy and fetal development. Physical health outcomes such as STDs should also be a part of such education. These should be taught in a neutral manner.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree
