QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Agree
I do not support any entity that wants to target students for money making or political agenda advancement. This is a family issue. Any family carrying the weight of teen pregnancy needs emotional and mental support. Loss of life at any moment is tragic and a very heavy burden. I would support using our Mental health professionals to help students that are in need.
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Choose not to answer
As a Wake County School Board member I will advocate for three things around this topic .. 1. Right to privacy for any student regarding ALL pregnancy or any other Medical condition. 2. Access to materials so they can continue their education from home. 3. A return to school with open arms.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.
Strongly Agree
I hear stories about students being shamed or bullied for their Religions. Respectful display of one's Faith should never be silenced or punished.
School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Shifting discrimination is a chronic society/government disorder. Forcing others to compromise in their personal belief is not the answer.
Students should not be allowed to pray in school.
Strongly Disagree
Prayer is an important element of all Religions. I support prayer as long as it is not a disruption of the classroom effort to educate.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Without exemptions .... none
ECONOMY
School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.
Strongly Disagree
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
I do not believe in Government funded college. I will work to bring Vocations into the current century by pushing for more Vo-Tech opportunities in Wake County Public Schools. Our young adults need to be life ready at the end of grade 12. For Pre-K programs, I do believe there is some good that can come from providing an easier track for single parents to get to work. My mother was a single mother to 3 sons at one point. I would NOT advocate for Federal government to be involved. I would rather identify the local need and then let the communities vote on a method to accommodate.
EDUCATION
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
I cannot think of any reason why a parent should be restricted from speaking at a school board meeting.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
In a full day of school several of these lessons will be taught. I believe in the 3 A's of a great school and school system .. Academics, Athletics, Arts .. These are the cornerstones and must be recognized to launch every child after graduation. I believe in the Vo-Tech approach to teach current relatable vocational skills along with classical vocational skills. I also believe that each individual has the Right to pursue happiness .... If that happiness comes in the form of higher education, building things, or creating art, each student in Wake County should have access to it. I will list the subjects I believe we need to make sure we do teach, but not in any order of priority. Mathematics, Personal Finance, Physical Fitness, Language Arts, Art and Music, American History, Vocational learning, Information Tech, Science, Foreign Language .. I would add Civics and World History
American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.
Strongly Agree
Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.
Strongly Agree
The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.
Strongly Agree
I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.
Strongly Disagree
Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
Agree
As a Wake County Board member, it will be my job to compete against alternatives and make sure Wake is the best choice.
What is the function of the local school board?
To write policies and provide support for local schools. I would work with all levels of our County to make sure Wake was the best option. I would create a parental platform, not subject to appointment or "who knows who" politics ... This platform would make it easy for parents to voice their concerns in a collective manner. I also view my job is to make sure our Superintendent is focused on academic excellence and the health of our schools.
Do you support the National School Board Association's characterization of parents who speak out at school board meetings as "domestic terrorists"?
No
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
When a curriculum is chosen, it must provide ample support for our teachers. I want a policy that prevents short sighted curricula. Anything we adapt, I will make sure it offers tracking metrics for teachers to measure the success of their lesson plans. It is important for teachers to be able to measure the progress made and identify areas where more work is needed. We want our children to own the education they are given. Mastering skills are vital for long lasting educational success. Teachers need better support and this must be built into the curricula.
Who has the ultimate right to control the education of children in public schools? (a) parents (b) teachers (c)school boards.
A .............. However, without the unity of all three layers, children will suffer.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?
Without exemptions ..... NONE
I support mask mandates.
Strongly Disagree
The Dental profession has operated with one mask on and one off for hundreds of years ....
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Absolutely not.
A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.
Disagree
In Lee County there is a School Board member that had a public internet profile ... It was a kink site. This Board member claimed himself to "live for masking", and was allowed to vote on children having to wear a mask. Adults making adult decisions is one thing, publicly promoting fetishes that impact policy is another.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Not sure if there are any..
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am the only endorsed candidate in District 6 that does not/has not had to depend on State money or WCPSS's budget to make a living. I am High School educated, a landlord, business owner, and a believer in the American Dream. I want to relight that fire in our youth.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a very spiritual person. I believe Religion is one of the most needed moral compasses we posses. I believe God loves you no matter where you are. I believe free thought is the greatest gift. Logic is the only thing separating us from the animals and that is God's work.
I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Strongly Disagree
Women have fought so hard to be recognized as women for being women. I think we need to provide an avenue for our children going through a Gender journey, but taking away from one to give to another is not the right way to go.
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Parents have these answers. Some parents would choose their children learn about sex from a third party and some would teach their children themselves. This should be an item for a Parental committee to advocate for.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex
Parents must be the guiding light in this topic.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Choose not to answer
No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Strongly Agree
No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.
Strongly Agree
This is so dangerous. At some point, the child will be outside of this bubble. This will, and currently does result in suicide. It is an abandonment issue that children have to face. It will always be better to involve a parent to make sure every child has a support system outside of school.
EQUALITY
I support the teaching that an individual, solely by virtue of his or her race, is inherently racist, whether consciously or unconsciously.
Strongly Disagree
