QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am pro-life. In Kansas, we must first focus on passing Value Them Both, or there will be no restrictions allowed whatsoever. If the voters adopt Value Them Both in August, we can then talk about any further restrictions. I believe that an exception must be allowed for the life of the mother.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The elimination of the food sales tax and reducing property taxes was a good first step by the Kansas Legislature this past session. I would support exploring any further reductions that help out families and small businesses, with an overall goal of making our system easier to understand and fair for all.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
It is impossible to know the answer to this question without a complete review of everything the state funds. As a fiscal conservative, I believe in limited government. That means asking questions such as, “Is this something the government should be doing?” and “If it is, is it doing it effectively and in the most cost efficient way possible?” As we ask those questions regarding expenditures, we will know where reductions need to be made.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
It is already guaranteed through high school, which I strongly support, and we have public universities. However, we should not adopt a Bernie Sanders approach of “free college.”
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
In my opinion, never, and I am glad the legislature adopted a bill prohibiting the governor from doing so. In my opinion, this should apply to local governments and schools as well.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Medicaid and Medicare certainly should be available, but I oppose universal health care or Medicare for all, and I oppose Medicaid Expansion. We should be focusing on free-market solutions that provide increased access to affordable health care. I have worked in this area for several years and have experience with real solutions and services that lower costs and improve health outcomes and the experience for people and their families along with employers.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I strongly opposed any COVID-19 vaccine mandates by any of the entities named. I would have strongly supported the action the legislature took last November during the special session to protect our rights.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
This is more of a question for federal candidates, but the most important thing the legislature can do is ensuring that Kansas is not a haven for illegal immigrants. I was glad to see the legislature ban sanctuary cities.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
I stand with Israel!
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I support legal immigration via an easy-to-understand process that encourages those who want to become Americans to do so in a way that abides with our laws.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
Now, more than ever, parents are rising up and taking control of their children’s education and we should welcome that. The legislature has taken steps to ensure children have opportunities for a great education, and should do more. I also encourage local school boards to welcome these policies so all children have a chance at a great future!
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
Only God can determine, judge or authorize marriage and not government.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a strong believer and follower in God.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
The legislature has taken a number of steps to secure our elections, and I support those measures. That includes restrictions on ballot harvesting and Zuckerbucks. I am open to any changes that make it easy to vote yet hard to cheat, and give people the confidence their elections are conducted honestly.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Kansas is a free state and we are all proud of that history of opposition to racism. I reject the far-left’s obsession with declaring any support for common-sense policies racist.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A with a caveat. We all support a clean environment and prudent policies that protect it. Any proposed regulation must be examined carefully and be necessary, not to further a radical agenda. That’s how we end up with $5 gas.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To uphold the United States and Kansas Constitutions – including protecting our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Did not answer
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
Our current representative has a history of often voting with the member of the other party, and I would uphold conservative, Republican values while representing my constituents in a way that makes them proud. I will work each day to ensure everything we do is consistent with upholding freedom, which we learned all-to-well the last two years can be taken away in a moment’s notice.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
I back the blue.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
As I mentioned, the purpose of state government is to protect the Constitutional rights of its citizens, and that includes the 2nd Amendment. Kansans have repeatedly stood with upholding 2nd Amendment rights, so I oppose restrictions that would impede upon that right.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
