RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am a Christian and believe in the sanctity of life as documented in the Bible. Life begins at conception and America's founders clearly stated that everyone is entitled to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Our rights are based on our humanity, not on our level of dependency. Our rights come to us from God, who made each of us in His image. This is very personal to me. I was born as a result of an unplanned pregnancy. For those who are fortunate to be able to conceive but do not want their child, adoption is a wonderful option because there are so many families who want to conceive but cannot. We need to come alongside a woman who finds herself in this situation and her yet to be born child and ensure that the woman is supported through her pregnancy and that she is set up to support herself and her baby, or that her baby has a loving home to go to once it is born. There are wonderful nonprofits I have supported that provide these services and their work should be held up as an example of how our society should respond to people in this situation. Similarly, the elderly deserve our compassion and respect. Their lives are precious as well. We are to love one another as God has loved us through the entire span of our lives. Life is precious and we must always treat it as such.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

America’s founders were influenced by the Great Awakening and the moral principles of our society are rooted in Judeo-Christian values. A moral and educated citizenry is required to preserve our constitutional republic.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

The U.S. Government's first responsibility is to U.S. Citizens. The roles of the Federal government are outlined in the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution. Those functions should be the Federal government's first priority. Tyranny is antithetical to liberty, which is one of America’s founding principles. Americans have fought tyranny globally because we value life and liberty.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

The first step to do right now (May 2022) is secure our southern border. Terrorists have been trying to infiltrate America for years, and now have an open door through our southern border. So many people have sacrificed so much – at home and abroad – to preserve our freedom and protect us from terrorism. As the widow of a combat veteran, I believe that my husband’s service and sacrifice, and that of so many others, is dishonored by the policies and practices of the current administration. What happened in Afghanistan in 2021 is unconscionable and inexcusable. What is happening right now on our southern border is also unconscionable and inexcusable. It is a humanitarian crisis. The only people benefiting from this situation are drug cartels, human traffickers, and other criminals. On a related note, energy independence is not only good for the American economy but it is also important for national security. When we are not energy independent we have to buy fuel from people who consider us infidels or who are otherwise not our friends. In the situation of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the current administration’s sanctions are hurting the Russian people while not thwarting the aggression of the Russian leadership, which is using profits from selling fuel on the world market to fund the Russian war machine. What we need to do is get the Keystone Pipeline going again and flood the world market with cheap fuel. That will help the American economy while cutting off the primary source of funding for the Russian war machine.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Medical decisions are inherently personal decisions that must be made by an individual in consultation his or her doctor. Each individual should do the necessary research, weigh the evidence, consider their personal medical history, and then make the decision that they believe is best for their situation. Parents should be the ones to make such decisions for their minor children.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Private healthcare options should always be preserved. While many people rely on Medicaid and Medicare, we also know that these are unfunded liabilities and ultimately not sustainable. We need to thoughtfully consider how to transition from these programs. In addition, those who paid into these programs through payroll taxes should be able to tap into their funds if needed to procure care for a terminal illness. My combat veteran husband was diagnosed with a life threatening brain tumor and glioblastoma on his first day of retirement from the USAF after over 22 years of honorable service. He was rated by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as 100% disabled with 100% service-connected disability, unemployable and homebound, qualifying for maximum benefits. Unfortunately, it was a battle to get the VA to follow through on delivering those benefits. He ultimately required 24x7 care and the VA-contracted facilities were substandard. If he had been able to use his Medicare benefits, he could have received care at higher quality facilities, but the government did not allow someone who had not yet achieved the government-set retirement age to get their Medicare benefits, even with a terminal illness. This is not right. My veteran husband paid into Medicare for over 20 years and should have been able to use those funds to receive better care in his time of need. Despite my constant advocacy, he faced quality of care issues at the VA-contracted facilities. He suffered unnecessarily because the VA would not do their job and address quality of care concerns. I ultimately had to get my husband admitted to the hospital where they found he was battling four preventable life-threatening issues. He fought valiantly in the intensive care unit, but died in our daughter’s and my arms on 16 December 2017 at the age of 47. Had we been able to use his Medicare benefits that he had paid for, he could have received better care. In Congress, I will work to fix this so that people diagnosed with terminal illness can use the funds they paid into Medicare in their time of need.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Strongly Disagree

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Our tax code is far too complex and often penalizes wage earners in high cost of living areas while leaving tax loopholes for others. It needs to simplified. For example, a reasonable flat tax makes far more sense.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

The poem on the Statue of Liberty says, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…” America has always welcomed liberty-loving people who long for freedom, share our values, and want to contribute to our society and become Americans, to go through the legal process to become U.S. citizens. Once they complete that process, they are considered 100% American.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

We need to fully fund and support our police departments.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The right to bear arms is protected by the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Law-abiding citizens should be allowed to own firearms. Convicted criminals should not be allowed to own firearms. Anyone who owns a firearm should be properly trained on how to safely handle it – including classroom traning and range training.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I am a Constitutionalist.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Please visit the "Media and Events" page of my campaign website to find links to my latest talks and interviews. https://www.micheleweslanderquaid.com/events Please visit my Rumble page to see videos of me speaking at campaign events.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Never

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

In 2002, I first took the oath of office to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Since that time, people who have worked with me or heard me speak have told me that I should run for elected office. My response has always been, “Thanks, but that has never been a career aspiration of mine. I would only do that if I felt called to do so.” I feel called to run for U.S. Congress in 2022. This is a continuation of my oath of office that I took 20 years ago. Currently, we have people in elected office violating their oaths. We need God-fearing American patriots in office, not career politicians. I am running as an independent because my loyalty is to America, the American people, and the U.S. Constitution that protects our God-given inalienable rights – not a political party. I have executive-level experience in both the public and private sectors. I was recruited out of graduate school into the national security community where I served for 25 years — first in industry and then in government. In 2002, I was sworn in as a senior executive in defense intelligence serving as a peer to generals and flag officers in the military. I willingly went to combat zones of Iraq and Afghanistan to support our troops. When the Director of National Intelligence was established, I served as the first Intelligence Community Deputy Chief Information Officer. I worked across the 17 agencies that comprised the Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense. As a senior policymaker, I regularly interfaced with Congress and testified as a subject matter expert twice. I led large offices of hundreds of people, managed budgets in the $100s of millions, contracts of $0.5 billion, and oversaw portfolios over $10 billion. We have had lawmakers overspending and passing laws that are in violation of the U.S. Consitution. We need to be fiscally responsible, remove unnecessary regulations, and strike down laws that are unconstitutional. You can count on me to lead with integrity and use my experience and expertise to defend your rights and bring about positive change to restore our constitutional republic.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

The transgender movement is very troubling. For one, it is regressive in regard to women’s rights and threatens the progress we have made. One example of this is women’s sports.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Critical theory is rooted in Marxism. Social justice is a set of ideas rooted in postmodernism and neo-Marxist critical theory. Progressives (American Marxists) are trying to shape the minds of our children with critical theory — Social Emotional Learning (SEL), CRT, and Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE).

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. I believe, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, that every human being is created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I support the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, which protect individual liberty and personal freedom. Life and liberty are to be protected.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Elections determine the course of our nation. Only citizens are allowed to vote, and there is to be only one vote per citizen. To help ensure the integrity of our elections, there should be verification of U.S. Citizenship, Voter ID, and paper ballots.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No nation is perfect, but America has done more to combat racism than any other nation, including fighting a Civil War to end slavery. The biggest threat to America today is totalitarianism. The radical Left Progressives are working to further their agenda to fundamentally transform America by dismantling the U.S. Constitution. They are using Marxist divide and conquer tactics to turn citizens against each other. They are also following Rules for Radicals and using community organizing to exacerbate points of tension, including race relations, and trying to divide people between victims and oppressors. The globalists of the World Economic Forum are trying to usher in The Great Reset, which includes a social credit system to control people and digital passports to create a true checkpoint society. We The People must recognize this threat, honor the sacrifice so many made to preserve freedom throughout our nation's history, focus on what unites us, and stand together to uphold liberty.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. We must strike a common-sense balance between protecting the earth and enabling human beings to thrive. We should have a portfolio of energy options — a mix of green energy, nuclear, and fossil fuels — to provide the energy America needs.
