QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Agree
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
ECONOMY
School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.
Disagree
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
I believe that K-12 should be publicly funded with voucher options for parents as needed.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.
Strongly Agree
Respectful dialog should always be encouraged.
School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
Students should not be allowed to pray in school.
Strongly Disagree
As long as prayer is not disruptive to other student's learning time.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I support vaccinations for common vaccine-preventable diseases like polio, hepatitis B, measles, chickenpox, etc.
EDUCATION
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Only if parents are breaking the law, being disruptive or interfering with the normal business of the board. School boards should welcome public comments and make reasonable accommodations for the public to speak.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, American History, Vocational Learning, Physical Fitness, Information Technology, Foreign Language, Art & Music, Personal Finances
American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.
Strongly Agree
Although not everyone lived up to these values, education should still emphasize these principles.
Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.
Agree
The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.
Agree
I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.
Disagree
Slavery and racism are a part of American history and should be taught, but they are not the foundation of America.
Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
Strongly Agree
What is the function of the local school board?
I see the Board's responsibilities as follows: Evaluate results to determine the effectiveness with which the educational goals are being met; Approve budgets, financial reports and audits; Review all possible spending decisions over a set dollar amount; Prescribe the standards needed for the efficient operation and improvement of the school system; Ensure the dissemination of information necessary to keep the public well informed about the schools; Access parental feedback data to ensure open communication between parents / guardians and the schools; Approve personnel actions
Do you support the National School Board Association's characterization of parents who speak out at school board meetings as "domestic terrorists"?
No
Concerned parents are not domestic terrorists. Anyone who communicates threats should be punished legally, but parents who are respectful should be allowed to speak.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
The local school board and the state board of education has the authority to set curriculum and determine resources, and parents should be involved in this process.

Disagree
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I’m a product of public schools, and I want to support academic excellence for the upcoming generation of students. School boards should always think of what is best for students first. I want to make sure that funds are being spent efficiently at the administrative level and that we are focusing our dollars and energy into education fundamentals. I want to represent the community by involving them in decision making. I believe that the board desperately needs someone with project and fiscal oversight skills who has experience overseeing large projects. I have personal interest in making our schools better and being a voice of reason representing our parents and students and supporting our teachers and staff.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?
I support proven common vaccinations for vaccine-preventable diseases like polio, hepatitis B, measles, chickenpox, etc.
I support mask mandates.
