QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, North Carolina should repeal its law allowing abortion up to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I believe abortion should be outlawed in all situations. If there is case where one of the patients are causing lethal harm to the other, then medical intervention with the intent to save both lives should be taken. It is my core belief that regardless of the circumstances, a human life is at stake when considering abortion. A life is a life, and taking away that life should be against the law. I am also a strong supporter of pregnancy resource centers who compassionately care for women before and after the birth of their child.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

I believe our founding fathers intended for the state not to control the church and for every citizen to freely practice their faith. Likewise, they intended for people of faith to bring their faith into the public square and the government offices where they serve. The evidence for this is overwhelming. The gross misunderstanding of the “separation of church and state concept” , which is not in the Constitution, is resulting in religious liberty issues in the U.S.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The first step to accomplishing this is fully repealing Obamacare. The government has no right to insert itself into private citizens' healthcare decisions. My business experience has taught me that competitive markets driven by consumer choice are effective ways to reduce cost and improve quality. I believe one of the next steps in fixing our broken healthcare system is establishing transparent pricing and removing legal boundaries that restrict competition.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State, sheriff and local law enforcement agencies should be required to participate in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) Program to enhance the safety and security of their communities to identify and detain aliens.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I believe law-abiding individuals should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S, however, our broken immigration system as it currently stands allows people to come here (both legally and illegally) who wish to do harm to our country and disrupt our way of life. This must be fixed in order to get immigration under control and ensure the highest standard of safety for all Americans.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

As a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, I do recognize that we have an issue in the U.S. and in North Carolina when it comes to gun violence. However, I believe this is an issue driven by a mental health crisis, not by access to firearms. Based on the evidence from countries and cities that have restricted access to firearms, I do not believe that limited access will end the homicide problem in the U.S.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

As Secretary of State, my first objective is to address the voter integrity issue by eliminating illegal aliens as notaries. I will use my executive business experience to advocate for businesses in the legislative process by advising and supporting legislation to remove regulations on business and make the necessary administrative processes more business friendly. I will prioritize support for legislation that provides for stronger protections on religious liberty and that respects life.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I would encourage readers to visit www.ECforNC.com and review my background, experience, and values. Our campaign is built on the shared North Carolina values that have been absent from our government for too long.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

As a businessman who has led public and private businesses of various sizes, I consider myself a conservative outsider who can help hard-working families by bringing transparency and efficiency to our state government. As a man of strong Christian faith who has demonstrated a servant style of leadership, I believe I can implement commonsense policies like honoring the rule of law, cutting waste, limiting the size of government, and making it easier and less expensive to do business in North Carolina. With my long and proven experience in business, I believe I can remove barriers to economic growth, foster job creation, and improve the business environment. As a native North Carolinian, I also believe I have the ability to appeal to a diverse mix of voters and represent the North Carolina values that we all share.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No, I have never been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I would encourage readers to visit www.ECforNC.com to learn more about my background, legislative priorities, platform, and plan to win. As I tell voters everywhere I go, our campaign is a big tent and everyone is welcome!

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Parents should have the right to know what schools are teaching their children about sex and LGBT issues and should have the right to opt their children out of any instruction to which they object.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a compassionate Christian with a Biblical worldview. My Christian faith shapes my values and is the reason I felt the call to action to run for office. I believe life begins are conception and is to be protected. Likewise, I believe the live of the elderly and the infirm are precious and assisted suicide is wrong. I believe that people should take care of people and the government has grown to the point where it has taken on responsibilities that exceed the boundaries of the Constitution.
