QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Under no circumstances should abortion be allowed.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Individuals and businesses should never be forced to compromise their moral or religious beliefs.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Under no circumstances should government ever close churches. During the 87th Legislature, I voted for House Bill 1239, which ensures that no church or house of worship is closed by government overreach. I also supported Senate Joint Resolution 27, which gave Texans the opportunity to amend the Constitution by adding a ban on local officials closing churches to the Texas Constitution. Texans overwhelming adopted the resolution. I also supported House Bill 525, which confirms that religious organizations and their activities are essential. The freedom to worship is fundamental and should never been subject to bureaucratic overreach.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The only language Islamic terrorists understand is military strength, presence, and action.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available but no other taxpayer-funded programs (Medicaid and Medicare should undergo major reforms making them accountable to taxpayers and more efficient)
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I am a supporter of the Trump vaccine for COVID. I am vaccinated and encourage others to so the same when possible. However, I do not support any COVID vaccination mandates.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Property taxes should be reduced or eliminated in favor of consumption based taxes.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Article 3, Section 49 of the Texas Constitution mandates a balanced budget. Texas must pass a balanced budget during each legislative session.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
College is not a right for everyone to receive for free. Texas should continue adequately supporting colleges and universities but not by providing free tuition.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
In 2021 alone, I supported increasing border security by $2.8 billion dollars and deploying more troopers and high-tech surveillance to the border. I also support finishing the border wall started by President Trump. If the federal government continues to fail, Texas will step up and secure the border.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
We live in a nation of immigrants and should continue to allow law-abiding immigrants that complete available processes to enter and assimilate into our country. “Enter through the gate and close the gate behind you.”
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
No restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety. The Second Amendment is a God-given, Constitutional right.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Protect our borders, public safety and provide basic infrastructure (roads, etc.) Provide personal liberty where individual responsibility is emphasized.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I believe in limited government, both federal and state - and local control. Local control does not include “out of control” liberal urban government. My legislative priorities include property tax relief, transportation, addressing water issues and education excellence. I spent 40 years as a veterinarian, rancher, small business owner and am relatively new to public service. I chose to enter the political arena because I want my children and grandchildren to have the same freedoms and economic opportunities that have been given to me. I have leadership skills and experiences as a father and leader of various organizations. My service will benefit Texas and our nation.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
God only created two genders - male and female.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree with Critical Race Theory (CRT). In 2021, I voted to ban the teaching of CRT in our Texas classrooms. We should be teaching our children, not indoctrinating them.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 9. I pray regularly and attend church regularly. I have been a member of the United Methodist church since 1966. God’s Grace is an indescribable gift. John 3:16 is my favorite Bible verse.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
During the 87th Legislature, I supported numerous bills to strengthen the integrity of our elections. In the second special session, I supported Senate Bill 1, which updated our voting practices and made it easier to vote and harder to cheat. SB 1 standardized the election processes and created uniformity in our election code for all 254 Texas counties. This eliminated the potential for counties to create ad hoc voting procedures that may be applied inconsistently across the state. Uniformity reduces the likelihood of fraud. SB 1 banned "vote harvesting" and strengthens the unlawful altering of election procedures. SB 1 increases voter confidence and provides greater transparency by ensuring that poll watchers are allowed to watch and observe election practices in polling places and ballot counting areas. It is important that Texans have complete trust and confidence in our elections.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is not a threat to domestic security in the United States. Using the 'race card" by liberals to sow division and dissent is a threat.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
