RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
I disagree. Taxpayer funds should not pay for elective abortions, but providers should not be denied public funding for other lawful healthcare services such as cancer screenings, contraception, STI testing, and preventive care. I support safeguards that keep abortion funding separate while preserving access to essential healthcare.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I believe elective abortion should remain legal early in pregnancy, with later abortions limited to serious circumstances such as threats to the life or health of the mother, rape, incest, or severe fetal abnormalities. These decisions should be made by the woman and her doctor, with reasonable safeguards that respect both personal liberty and the value of human life.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Disagree
I believe human life has inherent value and deserves respect, but I do not support an absolute legal standard beginning at conception. The law should balance the value of unborn life with a woman’s rights, medical circumstances, and personal liberty, especially early in pregnancy.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Disagree
I disagree with an absolute prohibition. Human embryos created through IVF should be treated with care and respect, but families should retain the ability to make deeply personal decisions with their physicians about embryos that will not be implanted. I would oppose laws that criminalize standard fertility treatments or force families to indefinitely preserve embryos they no longer intend to use.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Disagree
I disagree. I do not believe an 1873 law should be used to impose a nationwide restriction on medications that are legally prescribed and regulated by the FDA. Medications should be governed by modern medical standards, federal law, and appropriate safeguards, while respecting the rights of states and patients to make lawful healthcare decisions.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
I support a reasonable, gradual increase in the minimum wage so working Kansans can better afford basic necessities, while giving small businesses, farms, and rural employers time to adjust.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
I agree. Free enterprise and private property rights are essential to a strong economy because they encourage investment, innovation, and opportunity. I also believe government has a responsibility to enforce fair rules, protect workers and consumers, prevent abuse, and ensure that economic growth benefits local communities as well as businesses.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
My priorities are to reduce unnecessary tax subsidies and corporate giveaways, stop politicians from giving themselves raises, eliminate duplicative programs and administrative overhead, strengthen competitive bidding and oversight of government contracts, and require regular audits to identify waste, fraud, and programs that are no longer delivering results for taxpayers.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
To me, separation of church and state means government should neither establish nor favor a religion, while also protecting every person’s right to practice their faith freely. People of faith should be welcome in public life, but government policy should serve all citizens regardless of religious belief.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
I believe religious freedom deserves strong protection, but businesses that serve the general public should also follow laws protecting customers from discrimination. When possible, reasonable accommodations should be made for sincerely held beliefs without denying people equal access to essential goods and services.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
I support option B. Every Kansan should have access to affordable healthcare, including a public option for those who want or need it, while preserving private insurance and the freedom to choose the coverage that works best for each family.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Disagree
I oppose creating government databases that track identifiable individuals based on their medical conditions. Health information is deeply private. Government may use anonymous, aggregated data to understand healthcare costs and improve policy, but individual medical privacy should be strongly protected.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Agree
I agree. The Chinese Communist Party presents serious challenges to U.S. national security, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and economic stability. We should respond firmly while avoiding hostility toward the Chinese people and continuing to work with allies to protect American interests.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. The United States has important security, diplomatic, and economic ties with Israel, but no ally should receive unconditional support. Our relationship must include accountability, respect for international law, protection of civilians, and a willingness to withhold support when a government’s actions violate those principles.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Agree
I support allowing local governments to set policies that build trust between law enforcement and immigrant communities. Local police should focus on public safety and serious crime, not routine federal immigration enforcement. Undocumented people should still be held accountable for criminal conduct, while receiving due process and humane treatment.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Disagree
I support strong state and local control of schools, but I do not support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education. Its federal role includes protecting civil rights, supporting students with disabilities, administering education funding, and helping disadvantaged students. Local communities should control curriculum and instruction, while the federal government maintains these core protections.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Agree
I support strong limits and full transparency on foreign government funding of American schools and universities, especially where it could influence curriculum, research, or policy. However, I would not support a blanket ban that blocks legitimate academic partnerships, student exchanges, or research collaborations that serve a clear public benefit.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Agree
I agree that parents should have the primary role in directing their child’s education and healthcare. Government should respect that responsibility while still protecting children from abuse, neglect, discrimination, and serious threats to their health or safety.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Disagree
I disagree with labeling every attempt to support a transgender child as child abuse. Parents, families, and qualified healthcare professionals should be able to make careful, age-appropriate decisions based on the individual child’s needs, with strong safeguards and parental involvement.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Neutral
I respect the religious belief that marriage is a sacred union between one man and one woman. However, government must apply civil marriage laws equally to all citizens. Religious institutions should never be forced to perform marriages that violate their beliefs, while civil marriage rights should remain protected for everyone.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Agree
I support limited expansion of legal gambling when it is carefully regulated, approved by local communities, and paired with strong consumer protections and funding for problem-gambling treatment. I do not support unchecked expansion or policies that place revenue ahead of public welfare.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My faith centers on trying to live more like Jesus by loving others, treating people with kindness and dignity, serving those in need, and showing grace even when we disagree. I believe faith should be reflected in how we treat people, especially the vulnerable, the overlooked, and those who may not have a strong voice. I value compassion, humility, honesty, forgiveness, family, service, and personal responsibility. I also believe we are called to care for our neighbors, seek justice, and lead with love rather than fear or anger. My goal is not to judge others, but to live in a way that reflects Christ’s example and to treat every person with the respect and humanity they deserve.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I support Kansas’s current photo ID requirement. Requiring identification is a reasonable safeguard for election security, especially when the state provides free voter identification for those who need it. We should make IDs easy to obtain while maintaining confidence in our elections.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
I do not support providing reparations based solely on race. I do support addressing the lasting effects of discriminatory laws and policies through targeted investments in education, housing, economic opportunity, and communities that were directly harmed. Remedies should be based on documented harm and designed to create opportunity, not divide people by race.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Neutral
I support fair competition in women’s sports and reasonable protections for privacy and safety in places like locker rooms, shelters, and prisons. However, I do not support a one-size-fits-all rule that treats every situation the same. Policies should balance fairness, safety, privacy, and the dignity of everyone involved.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Agree
I agree that human-caused climate change is a serious global challenge that requires action. I support practical policies that reduce pollution, expand clean and reliable energy, protect agriculture and water resources, and strengthen our communities, while avoiding mandates that place an unfair burden on working families, farmers, or small businesses.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
I believe nuclear power should play a major role because it provides reliable, around-the-clock electricity with low emissions. I also support natural gas, wind, solar, storage, and grid upgrades to keep energy affordable and dependable.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
I consider myself a moderate. I believe good policy should be practical, balanced, and focused on results rather than ideology. I hold views from across the political spectrum and try to judge each issue on its merits, with an emphasis on personal freedom, responsible government, strong communities, and treating people with dignity and respect.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
The goal of the criminal justice system should be to protect the public, hold people accountable, support victims, and reduce future crime. Punishment should be fair and proportional, while rehabilitation, mental health treatment, addiction services, and reentry programs should be used when they can help people successfully return to their communities.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Agree
Government has a responsibility to protect children from online sexual exploitation, trafficking, grooming, and abuse. That includes strong enforcement against offenders and platforms that knowingly enable exploitation, while still respecting privacy, due process, and constitutional rights.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Agree
U.S. and state law must remain the governing legal framework for everyone. No religious law, including Sharia, should override the Constitution or civil law. At the same time, Americans must remain free to practice their faith and voluntarily follow religious traditions so long as they do not violate the law or the rights of others.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Gun laws should focus on keeping firearms away from violent offenders, domestic abusers, and people determined through due process to pose a serious threat to themselves or others. I support effective background checks, enforcement of existing laws, and due process while protecting the rights of responsible, law-abiding gun owners.
