QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Protecting life also means supporting families. Being pro-life should extend beyond protecting the unborn—it means helping mothers, strengthening fathers, supporting children, and ensuring families have the resources and encouragement they need to thrive. Every life has value, and strong families help protect that value from the very beginning and throughout life.
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
Schools should respond to a student facing an unwanted or crisis pregnancy with compassion, dignity, and practical support for both the student and her unborn child. Protecting life and supporting families go hand in hand. Schools should connect students with appropriate counseling, healthcare and community resources, provide reasonable academic support so they can continue their education, and ensure they are not pressured or stigmatized because of their pregnancy. The goal should be to help both mother and child have the opportunity to thrive while respecting the family’s important role in supporting the student.
ECONOMY
Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.
Strongly Agree
Borrowers should be responsible for the debt they voluntarily take on—not taxpayers. Instead of broad loan forgiveness, we should lower education costs, expand career and technical training, improve financial literacy, and provide reasonable options for those facing genuine hardship.
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Public education is an investment in our children and our future, but funding must come with accountability. Taxpayer dollars should prioritize classrooms, effective teachers, student safety, and measurable academic results—not unnecessary bureaucracy. We should provide students with strong educational opportunities while ensuring every dollar is spent responsibly.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
With regard to public schools, what does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means public schools should neither promote nor suppress religion. Students should be free to pray, express their faith, or choose not to participate in religious activities without fear of discrimination. The focus should be protecting every student’s constitutional rights while keeping education student-centered.
IMMIGRATION
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enhances the safety and security of communities by identifying and detaining illegal aliens.
Strongly Agree
Immigration laws should be enforced fairly and consistently. When someone is in the country illegally and poses a credible threat to public safety, cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities can help prevent further harm. Protecting families, students, and neighborhoods should come first—while preserving due process and treating every person with dignity.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly oppose using abortion or gender-transition providers, including Planned Parenthood, for instruction or services in public schools. Parents know their children best and should remain at the center of sensitive health and values-based decisions. Schools should prioritize academics, safety, age-appropriate education, and transparency while respecting parents’ primary role in raising their children.
Consequences for bad behavior create a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Strongly Agree
I strongly support fair and consistent consequences for misconduct. Students learn best in classrooms that are safe, orderly, and respectful. Discipline should be age-appropriate, clearly communicated, and applied consistently while giving students opportunities to learn from mistakes. Accountability is not about punishment—it is about protecting learning and preparing students to make responsible choices.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Strongly Agree
I strongly support teaching students America’s founding documents, constitutional principles, and history. Students should understand the freedoms, responsibilities, and sacrifices that shaped our nation. Patriotism should not mean ignoring our mistakes—it means learning from our history, appreciating our freedoms, and preparing students to become informed, responsible citizens who strengthen our country.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
I believe the best education decisions are made closest to the students they affect. Parents, educators, and local communities should have a strong voice in shaping their schools. Federal and state partners have important roles, but local leaders need the flexibility and accountability to put students first and deliver results for every family.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development
I support age-appropriate, fact-based sex education that protects students and keeps parents firmly in the driver’s seat. Parents have the right to review materials, receive advance notice, and opt their children out without penalty. Schools should provide accurate information that promotes healthy, safe choices while supporting—not replacing—parents and respecting each family’s values.
It is discriminatory for a school district to cause academically eligible students to forfeit participation in U.I.L. competition when the student opts for instruction outside of the public school system.
Strongly Agree
I support giving academically eligible students a fair opportunity to participate in UIL activities, regardless of where they receive their education. Families should not have to choose between the educational setting they believe is best for their child and access to extracurricular opportunities supported by their community. Eligibility should be based on clear academic and conduct standards.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Student safety must be non-negotiable. Every child deserves a secure school where they can learn without fear, disruption, or violence. My priorities are safe campuses, academic excellence, strong teachers, and parental involvement. Political and ideological agendas—whether from the left or right—should never distract from our fundamental responsibility: protecting students and preparing them to succeed.
Public schools should prioritize academic achievement and building character necessary to preserve American traditions and self-government.
Strongly Agree
Our schools should prepare students to succeed in the classroom and in life. Strong character—responsibility, discipline, integrity, respect, and perseverance—supports better choices, stronger learning habits, and academic success. I will champion rigorous academics and character development that prepare students to become capable, responsible citizens and future leaders.
School choice creates competition, and that competition will push public schools to improve their educational systems.
Strongly Agree
I believe families and strong public schools can succeed together. Parents deserve meaningful educational options, while our community must continue working together to strengthen neighborhood schools. We should focus on what unites us: excellent teachers, high academic standards, responsible use of taxpayer dollars, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.
VALUES
Biological males should be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Disagree
Every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I also believe biological sex matters when protecting fairness in women’s athletics and privacy in sex-specific spaces. We can support students who may be struggling with questions of identity while maintaining clear, consistent policies that protect the safety, privacy, and opportunities of all students.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My faith calls me to lead with integrity, humility, courage, compassion, and respect for every person. I believe in the sanctity of life, strong families, personal responsibility, and service before self. As a trustee, I will lead with conviction, listen with respect, protect students, support educators, honor parents, and remain accountable to every family and taxpayer I am elected to serve.
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
I strongly support parents’ fundamental role in their children’s education. As a trustee, I will demand transparency, listen before I vote, explain my decisions, and hold district leadership accountable for results. I will never forget that trustees answer to the community we serve. Every decision must prioritize student safety, academic excellence, parental involvement, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
I support the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.
Strongly Agree
I believe every student deserves dignity, respect, equal opportunity, and the chance to reach their full potential. As a trustee, I will work collaboratively with families, educators, and our community to ensure district policies bring people together, maintain high expectations, and provide an excellent education for every child. I will listen respectfully, seek common ground, and remain accountable to the entire community I serve.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
My faith teaches that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman. As a trustee, however, my responsibility is to serve every student and family with dignity, fairness, and respect, regardless of their beliefs. I will uphold the law, protect constitutional freedoms, prioritize student safety and academics, and ensure my personal convictions never prevent me from serving the entire RRISD community.
Mental health conditions such as anorexia and gender dysphoria need to be treated, not affirmed.
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree that students experiencing serious mental health challenges deserve compassionate, evidence-based care—not politics or ideology. Schools should prioritize student safety, involve parents appropriately, and connect families with qualified professionals. As a trustee, I will support policies that protect vulnerable students, respect families, and put their long-term health and well-being first.
School library books that have literary value, as determined by experts, should be exempt from obscenity laws.
Strongly Disagree
I disagree. Literary value should never provide a blanket exemption from appropriate standards. As a trustee, I will insist on age-appropriate materials, transparent review processes, parental access and input, and consistent enforcement of district policy. I will ask tough questions, demand accountability, and ensure student safety and academic excellence remain at the center of every decision.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I believe every eligible citizen should have the opportunity to vote and confidence in our elections. Reasonable photo ID requirements help protect election integrity and public trust. We should also ensure eligible voters can easily access valid identification and clear voting information. Secure elections and voter access are not competing goals—we can and should protect both.

2ND AMENDMENT
Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.
Agree
My position is that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms, consistent with Supreme Court precedent and lawful firearm regulation. As an RRISD trustee, my governing responsibilities would remain focused on student safety, academic excellence, parental involvement, fiscal accountability, and responsible district leadership.
