RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Disagree
Public funding should support access to lawful healthcare, including contraception, cancer screening, STI prevention and treatment, and reproductive healthcare. We should not deny patients essential medical services because a healthcare organization also provides abortion care.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I support a woman's right to choose through 21 weeks of pregnancy. After that point, abortion should remain available when the pregnancy threatens the woman's life or serious health, or when there is a lethal fetal condition or the fetus is not viable. These difficult medical decisions belong to the patient and her physician, not politicians.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Disagree
I believe fetal life deserves greater protection beginning at 21 weeks, when viability becomes possible, while preserving exceptions for serious threats to the mother's life or health, lethal fetal conditions, or when the fetus is not viable. But those who argue that all human life must be protected should apply that principle consistently. I oppose capital punishment. The government should not claim to defend the sanctity of life while retaining the power to deliberately take a life.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Disagree
Human embryos have the potential to develop into human beings, but they are not persons and should not have the same legal status as a person. Granting embryos full legal personhood could jeopardize IVF by creating legal liability for the storage, testing, selection, or disposal of embryos, procedures that are an integral part of modern fertility treatment.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Disagree
I oppose using the Comstock Act to restrict access to abortion medications. These medications are safe and effective and have been used for many years. An antiquated law should not be used to interfere with a physician's ability to prescribe medically appropriate treatment or a patient's ability to receive it.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
People who work full-time should be able to support their families with dignity. I support a meaningful minimum wage, but wages alone are not enough. We must also reduce the rising costs of housing, insurance, healthcare, childcare, and food.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
Free enterprise and private property are essential to a strong economy, but free markets require fair competition. Government should protect small businesses, workers, and consumers from fraud, monopolies, exploitation, and unfair practices while encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
Simplify Florida's tax code by eliminating unnecessary complexity and special-interest loopholes; make government buildings more energy efficient to permanently reduce operating costs; and reform state contracting through competitive bidding, stronger oversight, and regular audits.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means the government must neither establish nor favor a religion, while protecting every individual's right to practice a faith or no faith at all. Government should not impose religious beliefs on its citizens or favor one religion over another. Religious liberty belongs equally to everyone.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Agree
Religious freedom is a fundamental right, but it should not become a license to discriminate or deny essential services to others. A business serving the public should generally serve the public equally. In healthcare, personal religious objections should never be allowed to endanger a patient or deny urgently needed medical care.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
I prefer B. Every American should have access to affordable healthcare through a public insurance option, while preserving the right to choose private insurance. Everyone who is able to contribute should share in the cost. A strong healthcare system spreads risk broadly while preserving patient choice and access to care.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Disagree
Government can assess the prevalence and economic burden of chronic diseases using aggregated and de-identified health data. There is no need to create a government database identifying individuals by their medical conditions. We should obtain the information needed for public health planning while protecting patient privacy.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Neutral
China is a serious economic and strategic competitor, particularly in cybersecurity and intellectual property. However, exaggerating China as an existential threat for political purposes is dangerous and counterproductive. We should protect U.S. interests while pursuing dialogue, diplomacy, trade, and cooperation where our interests coincide.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
The U.S.-Israel relationship is important, but our support should not be unconditional. Israel has a right to security, and Palestinians have a right to life, dignity, security, and self-determination. U.S. military assistance should advance peace and security, comply with international law, and never provide a blank check for actions that cause unnecessary civilian suffering.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Agree
I support sanctuary policies that allow local police to focus on public safety rather than federal immigration enforcement. Undocumented residents should be able to report crimes, cooperate with police, seek medical care, and send their children to school without fear. We need a legal, humane, and efficient immigration system—not indiscriminate enforcement that divides families and communities.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Neutral
States and local communities should have primary responsibility for their schools and curricula. However, the Department of Education has an important role in protecting students' civil rights, preventing discrimination, administering federal education programs, and establishing basic national standards and accountability.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Neutral
Disagree with a blanket prohibition. International scholarships, research, and academic exchanges can benefit American education. However, foreign government funding must be fully disclosed and transparent, and no foreign government should be permitted to use its funding to influence curricula, research findings, admissions, or university policy.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Agree
Parents have the primary responsibility for their children's health, education, and well-being. However, that right is not absolute. Government has a legitimate responsibility to protect children from harm, ensure access to education, establish reasonable health and safety standards, and protect the rights and welfare of every child.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Disagree
Gender dysphoria is a medical condition that should be evaluated by qualified healthcare professionals. It is wrong to automatically label parents or healthcare professionals as child abusers for seeking or providing appropriate care. Medical decisions should be based on evidence, the individual patient, and careful consultation among physicians, parents, and patients.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Disagree
Marriage is a civil right that should be available equally to same-sex and opposite-sex couples. Government should not discriminate between them. Adults who choose to marry should receive the same legal recognition, responsibilities, protections, and benefits regardless of sexual orientation.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Disagree
Gambling addiction can devastate individuals and families. I do not believe Florida should increasingly depend on gambling as a source of government revenue, particularly when much of that revenue comes from people who can least afford the losses. Any expansion should be approached cautiously and accompanied by strong protections against problem gambling.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in the inherent dignity and worth of every human being and in treating others with compassion, respect, and fairness. Faith is deeply personal. Every person should be free to worship according to his or her beliefs, or not to worship at all, without government interference or discrimination. My values call for service to others, respect for human life, care for those in need, personal responsibility, tolerance, and respect for people whose beliefs differ from my own.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
Requiring reasonable photo identification is an appropriate safeguard for election integrity. However, obtaining acceptable identification should be easy and free. No eligible citizen should lose the right to vote because of cost, disability, age, transportation difficulties, or unnecessary documentation requirements.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
