QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I believe abortion is a deeply personal issue, and government should not interfere in private medical decisions. As a Libertarian, I support protecting individual conscience and ensuring taxpayers are not forced to fund elective abortions or abortion providers.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I believe human life deserves protection, but abortion is a deeply personal issue that should not be unnecessarily dictated by government. I support allowing abortion when necessary to protect the life or serious health of the mother, or in cases of rape or incest. I also believe taxpayers should not be required to fund elective abortions or abortion providers.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Agree
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Agree
I believe federal laws that are constitutionally valid should be enforced consistently and fairly. If the Comstock Act prohibits the mailing or distribution of materials intended for unlawful abortions, it should be enforced. Enforcement should follow the actual text of the law and due process, without selective or politically motivated prosecution.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
I believe workers deserve the opportunity to earn more, but wages should be determined by voluntary agreement between employers and employees rather than government mandates. Instead of imposing a minimum wage, government should focus on lowering tax
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Strongly Agree. Free enterprise and private property give individuals the freedom and incentive to work, invest, create businesses, innovate, and build wealth. Government should protect property rights and provide a fair legal framework while allowing people to participate freely in the marketplace.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
Cut waste by auditing state agencies, eliminating redundant programs, and requiring performance-based budgeting. Increase transparency for contracts and spending, strengthen oversight of taxpayer dollars, and end corporate welfare and ineffective subsidies. Streamline regulations and modernize government services to reduce administrative costs while protecting essential programs.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
To me, separation of church and state means government should not establish or favor a particular religion, and every person should be free to practice their faith—or no faith—without government interference. I believe religious freedom protects everyone and keeps government focused on protecting individual rights rather than imposing religious beliefs on citizens.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
I believe individuals should have the freedom to practice their religion without government compelling them to violate sincerely held religious beliefs. At the same time, government should enforce neutral laws against discrimination and protect everyone’s equal rights. The goal should be balancing individual liberty with equal treatment under the law.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
Everyone should have access to quality, affordable healthcare without being forced into a government-run system. I support greater competition, more choices in insurance and providers, lower prescription and medical costs, and reducing unnecessary regulations that drive prices up. Government should protect patients from fraud and abuse while allowing people to choose the healthcare and coverage that works best for them.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Strongly Disagree
I believe the government should not maintain a database of individuals with ongoing medical illnesses solely to assess the economic burden of treatment. Such a database could threaten privacy, invite misuse, and discourage people from seeking care. Healthcare policy should rely on anonymized, aggregated data whenever possible while protecting individual confidentiality and personal liberty.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
China presents significant challenges to U.S. national security, including military modernization, cyber operations, intellectual property and technology competition, and control of critical global supply chains. The United States should protect its national security and economic interests while maintaining diplomacy and avoiding unnecessary conflict.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
I want peace in the Middle East, but I do not believe the United States should police the world or become entangled in foreign conflicts. America should defend itself from genuine threats, pursue diplomacy, and respect the sovereignty of other nations. Our tax dollars should prioritize Americans at home rather than endless foreign intervention.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Agree
I support protecting peaceful undocumented individuals from unnecessary government overreach. Local governments should focus their resources on protecting their communities and enforcing laws against violence and fraud, rather than being required to act as immigration-enforcement agencies. At the same time, serious crimes should be treated seriously regardless of immigration status.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Agree
I believe education decisions should be made as close to students, parents, teachers, and communities as possible. Reducing federal control can give states and local communities more flexibility to address their students’ needs while maintaining accountability for educational outcomes.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Agree
Foreign governments should not be allowed to use American education to exert political influence, compromise national security, or control research and academic institutions. Foreign funding should be transparent, closely scrutinized, and prohibited when it creates a genuine national-security or undue-influence risk, while protecting legitimate private educational and research relationships.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Parents have a fundamental responsibility and right to guide their children’s education and healthcare. Government should respect parental authority while protecting children from abuse and neglect. Decisions should be made as close to the family as possible, not dictated by distant government officials.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Disagree
I believe children must be protected from abuse, coercion, and medically inappropriate treatment, but I would not automatically classify every attempt to influence a child’s gender expression or identity as child abuse. Parents should have a significant role in raising their children, while decisions involving a child’s health and safety should be based on individualized medical and professional standards rather than broad political labels.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Disagree
I believe marriage is a personal and voluntary relationship, and government should not dictate who consenting adults may marry. People are free to hold their own religious or traditional definition of marriage, but government should protect equal rights and individual liberty rather than impose one definition on everyone.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Agree
Adults should have the freedom to make their own choices, including participating in legal gambling, as long as those activities do not involve force or fraud. Government should not unnecessarily restrict peaceful, voluntary activities between consenting adults. I support allowing greater freedom while maintaining protections against fraud and exploitation.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My spiritual beliefs guide me to value human life, compassion, honesty, personal responsibility, forgiveness, and service to others. I believe every person has inherent dignity and should be treated with respect, regardless of their beliefs or background. My faith influences my values, but I believe government should protect everyone’s freedom to practice their faith—or no faith—without government imposing religious beliefs on them.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
I believe government should treat every individual equally under the law, regardless of race. If someone has been personally harmed or had their property or rights violated, there should be a path to restitution based on the specific harm and the responsible party—not collective punishment based on race. We should address injustice without creating new racial divisions.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Agree
Women and girls deserve privacy, safety, and a fair opportunity to compete. Sex-specific spaces can serve legitimate purposes, especially in sports, shelters, locker rooms, and situations involving privacy or safety. I support creating additional categories or options where appropriate, rather than forcing every situation into only “men” or “women,” while treating everyone with dignity and respect.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Agree
Climate change and environmental protection deserve serious attention. I support practical, evidence-based solutions that protect our environment while keeping energy reliable and affordable. We should encourage innovation, cleaner technologies, and responsible stewardship without placing unnecessary burdens on Michigan families and businesses.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Michigan needs reliable, affordable energy for growing demand. I support an all-of-the-above approach where nuclear, natural gas, renewables, and storage compete on cost, reliability, and performance without government picking winners.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Choose not to answer
I identify as a Libertarian because I believe in individual freedom, personal responsibility, limited government, lower taxes, free markets, privacy, and government accountability. I also value human life, parental rights, religious freedom, and strong communities. I believe we can respect traditional values while protecting everyone’s individual rights. I will work with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents when an idea benefits Michigan residents, because people should come before party.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
The primary goal of the criminal justice system should be to protect the public, hold offenders accountable, provide justice for victims, protect due process and individual rights, and reduce future crime through appropriate punishment and rehabilitation.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation and prosecute those who prey on them, including online. That responsibility should be carried out through targeted enforcement, due process, and cooperation with parents and technology providers—not unnecessary surveillance of law-abiding people.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Agree
U.S. law should be governed by the Constitution and democratically enacted civil laws, not by any religious legal system. At the same time, every American should remain free to practice Islam, Christianity, Judaism, or any other faith under the First Amendment.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Gun ownership is a constitutional right, and restrictions should be limited, clearly defined, and focused on protecting the public. I support keeping firearms away from violent criminals and dangerous individuals, enforcing existing laws, and responsible secure storage around children. Any new restrictions should respect due process and the Second Amendment
