QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
The unborn child has a right to life, so ending that life for non-medical reasons is wrong. I do not, however, trust distant government bureaucracies as the primary enforcement arm. These questions belong first at the family and community level; government’s role should stay limited, clear, and as close to the people as possible.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death. As a libertarian, my focus is on ensuring this protection is upheld without expanding the size and power of the state. I favor keeping the government’s role severely limited, clear, and decentralized. These sensitive matters belong at the family and community level, ensuring we protect the vulnerable without creating overreaching bureaucracy.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Agree
I agree that human embryos represent human life and deserve protection from purposeful destruction. I strongly support fertility assistance and the right of couples to build families. However, the best path forward is to encourage ethical medical practices that minimize the creation of excess embryos and prioritize compassionate options like embryo adoption. We should encourage and empower families and medical professionals to make these responsible choices through voluntary standards.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Agree
I support legal protection for the unborn, but I oppose weaponizing the federal Comstock Act to police the United States Postal Service and private interstate shipping. As a candidate for State Senate, I believe that federal overreach is dangerous, regardless of the intention. West Virginia is fully capable of managing its own laws regarding medicine and safety. We must handle these sensitive issues through clear, local state laws and strong communities, rather than expanding Washington's power.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
The true minimum wage is $0—what a worker earns when a job is never created or is eliminated because the mandate exceeds the value of the work. I support raising real wages through economic growth, lower taxes and regulation, and removing barriers.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
Audit and review state spending programs and agencies, defunding those that exceed or fail to accomplish their intended purposes. End corporate welfare and special tax incentives that pick winners and losers. Greater legislative scrutiny and review of unelected state agencies. Eliminating burdensome regulatory frameworks that squander economic opportunity while creating extra costs to taxpayers.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means what the First Amendment actually says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. It does not require the removal of religious expression from public spaces or ceremonies. It also does not require the government to rotate through every religion or give equal time to every faith in official proceedings simply for the sake of diversity.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
D) Government involvement has driven up costs and reduced choice. The better path is expanding market alternatives—greater competition, price transparency, health savings accounts, reduced regulation, and interstate insurance sales—so people can obtain affordable care without relying on taxpayer programs. Medicaid and Medicare should be reformed and gradually transitioned rather than expanded.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Strongly Disagree
These analyses can be performed with anonymous, aggregated data. Individual tracking and data collection is an unnecessary expansion of state power.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Agree
I agree that the Chinese Communist Party presents real military, cyber, and intellectual property challenges, but Washington should address these with targeted reciprocity rather than broad protectionism that fuels domestic inflation. A State Senator's priority is West Virginia's economy. We protect our workers not by building federal regulatory walls that raise prices on everyday goods, but by slashing state taxes, cutting red tape, and turning West Virginia into a land of real opportunity.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
The U.S. relationship with Israel matters only to the extent it serves concrete American interests—nothing more. Shared intelligence or regional positioning does not justify ongoing foreign military aid, weapons transfers, or entanglement in Israel’s conflicts. Taxpayer dollars must be kept at home to secure our own nation and economy, rather than underwriting the security and defense budgets of foreign nations.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Neutral
I disagree with sanctuary policies that expand local government programs, but I firmly believe in the Tenth Amendment. Local police are paid by local taxpayers to keep our specific West Virginia communities safe from violent crime and theft—not to serve as unpaid agents for the federal bureaucracy.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Agree
Public schools and state universities must never become vectors for foreign propaganda or intellectual property theft. While I support private individuals seeking education in a free market, we must enforce strict transparency and prevent foreign regimes from buying influence inside publicly funded classrooms and research centers.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Agree
Children should not be subjected to permanent medical procedures they can't possibly consent to. Consenting adults should be completely free to live their lives without government interference.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Agree
No government has the authority to alter the spiritual definition of marriage, a sacred covenant between one man and one woman; which is why the government should not be in the business of licensing or regulating it at all. The state should privatize marriage entirely, leaving religious institutions free to define it according to their faith, and allowing consenting adults to manage their own private relationships.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Agree
Although I am personally opposed to the practice, I agree with fully deregulating gambling because consenting adults should have the freedom to spend their own money without state interference. While the government has a duty to prosecute fraud and protect minors, it should not act as a moral gatekeeper for peaceful adult behavior. Removing arbitrary restrictions on gaming respects personal liberty and opens up economic opportunities without expanding the state's regulatory footprint.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian who believes the Bible is the inspired word of God; salvation is found in Christ Jesus. One becomes "in Christ" through hearing the Word, believing in Him, confessing that Jesus is the Son of God, repenting of sins, and being "buried" with Him in a water baptism, rising to walk in newness of life. Those who are saved are added to His kingdom, the church of Christ. There is no earthly spiritual authority save the Word of God; the pattern of salvation, worship, and what the Church looks like is found only in scripture, not synods, papacies, or associations of men.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
Because government actions carry the force of law, the process of choosing our leaders must be secure, transparent, and beyond reproach. Verifying a voter’s identity protects the integrity of our elections and ensures that outcomes are decided fairly by those with a legal stake in our community. Other limited use but legitimate, reliable methods should be explored in the rare event a photo ID isn't an option.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
The proper role of our legal system is to rectify specific, identifiable harms done to individual victims where property theft or state overreach can be proven. Broad, race-based government programs are divisive, administratively impossible, and punish modern taxpayers for historic wrongs they did not commit.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
Biological sex must be respected to guarantee fairness, privacy, and safety in sports and designated spaces. True liberty requires protecting individuals from government-mandated identity policies that compromise privacy or safety in public facilities, while simultaneously protecting the right of private organizations to set their own association rules.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Strongly Disagree
Top-down political action often results in bureaucratic waste, higher energy costs for families, and crippled industries. The true path to a cleaner environment is through free-market innovation, protecting private property rights, and removing government barriers so American entrepreneurs can develop cheaper, cleaner, and more efficient energy technologies.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
The most reliable energy source is whatever free market option delivers uninterrupted power at the lowest cost to consumers. West Virginia’s coal and abundant natural gas are the most reliable foundation, while nuclear energy is further refined.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative
In Charleston, the supermajority often grows the state budget and state code instead of shrinking it--passing nearly 300 bills per year. I believe in true fiscal conservatism: keeping government small, eliminating red tape for small businesses, and protecting your personal privacy. I am the only candidate in this race who will consistently vote to keep the government out of both your wallet and your private life.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
Never.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
Never.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
The goal of criminal justice should be justice for victims and fiscal responsibility for the taxpayer. Locking people up for victimless offenses, or solely for offending the government, comes at a massive cost to taxpayers. We must pivot toward a system of restitution—where non-violent offenders work to pay back the people they harmed—and focus prison space strictly on isolating violent criminals who pose a real threat to our communities.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Agree
I strongly agree that protecting children from exploitation is a fundamental duty of our legal system. However, we must achieve this by aggressively prosecuting criminals and empowering parents, not by giving government agencies the power to spy on innocent citizens or censor the internet. True safety comes from targeted law enforcement and strong families, not federal overreach into your digital privacy.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None.
