QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Neutral

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

The school should provide referrals to resources. The student and their parents should be informed equally. The school should also work with the student to help them graduate, just as they would with any other medical issue.

ECONOMY

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Agree

I agree that student loans need to be repaid, however there needs to be reform to prevent predatory loans and interest rates. If someone has paid interest that is more than twice the principal of the original loan amount, then I support loan forgiveness.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I think the current system is appropriate. Pre-K is paid for students with special needs and those who have financial need. The same thing with college, and community colleges are affordable for everyone.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

With regard to public schools, what does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Schools should be focused on teaching critical thinking skills and subjects like math, science, history, reading and writing. Religion is a huge societal influence that should not be hidden, but schools should always focus on teaching first.

IMMIGRATION

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enhances the safety and security of communities by identifying and detaining illegal aliens.

Agree

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

Not as a resource in the school, but as a referral for services with parent awareness.

Consequences for bad behavior create a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Strongly Agree

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Agree

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Agree

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

I believe that Sex Ed should not be required, but optional. It should focus on medical concepts such as anatomy/the reproductive system, stages of pregnancy and fetal development only.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

Mathematics, Science, American History, Art & Music, Civics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Information Technology, Foreign Language, Vocational Learning

Public schools should prioritize academic achievement and building character necessary to preserve American traditions and self-government.

Agree

School choice creates competition, and that competition will push public schools to improve their educational systems.

Neutral

I support school choice, but current AZ education spending laws do not create a true competitive environment. The argument of competition improving schools is flawed - my support of school choice comes from a desire for parents to find an environment they feel is best for their child.

VALUES

Biological males should be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Disagree

I support providing individual changing areas or bathrooms for trans students, but do not support biological males in women's sports or changing areas - especially in schools where minors are involved.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God and I value honesty and integrity. I believe that most people are well intentioned and want the best for society, even if there is disagreement on what that is.

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

I support the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

Mental health conditions such as anorexia and gender dysphoria need to be treated, not affirmed.

Neutral

I do not believe in encouraging children to transition their gender and children questioning their gender should be allowed to speak with mental health professionals about this with no medical interventions taken. However, adults who have gone through extensive mental health treatments who still want to transition should be allowed to do so.

School library books that have literary value, as determined by experts, should be exempt from obscenity laws.

Agree

The issue is always defining who the expert is. I don't support books that are overtly sexual or violent being used as required reading or part of a curriculum. There are plenty of options for teaching that don't have these elements. Having books available in a library for optional use is a different situation.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Lean Conservative

2ND AMENDMENT

Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.

Neutral

As a gun owner myself I feel that people can be trusted to carry, but when it comes to a school environment, I feel it is best to keep it gun free. I feel that the likelihood of a gun being used against a teacher in a stressful situation is more likely than it being used to stop an attack.
