I’m from El Paso, Texas, so immigration and border security are not abstract issues to me. I grew up in a border community and understand both the importance of securing our border and the contributions immigrants make to our country. I oppose sanctuary policies that shield serious criminals from lawful enforcement. We need secure borders, consistent enforcement, and a legal immigration system that is fair, efficient, and actually works.

As a former police officer and now an attorney, I’ve seen the system from different sides. As a former police officer and someone who was present during the May 2025 OASA mass shooting in Glendale, I have seen gun violence up close. I strongly support the Second Amendment, but rights come with responsibility. We should keep firearms out of the hands of violent felons, domestic abusers, and people who have been lawfully found to pose an imminent danger, while enforcing existing laws and protecting due process. The focus should be on dangerous people, not responsible gun owners.
