QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

I believe parents should be involved immediately when their child is facing something as life-changing as a pregnancy. This is a family matter, not something schools should be counseling a student about. Schools should focus on education, support the student academically, and respect parental rights.

ECONOMY

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Agree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Special education is personal to me. After my son was paralyzed in an accident, I learned firsthand how the right resources and support can create opportunities for greater independence, meaningful careers, and a stronger future. I support prioritizing public education funding for core K–12 education and the services and accommodations students with disabilities need from Pre-K through college. I do not support universal Pre-K or federal student loan forgiveness.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

With regard to public schools, what does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

I believe separation of church and state protects our religious freedom and keeps government out of our faith, not faith out of public life. Schools should focus on academics. Allowing government-led religious instruction opens a Pandora’s box of which beliefs schools must teach or accommodate. As a Christian, I want parents, not the government, guiding our children’s spiritual upbringing. At the same time, students and teachers should always be free to pray voluntarily and live out their faith.

IMMIGRATION

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enhances the safety and security of communities by identifying and detaining illegal aliens.

Agree

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Disagree

Consequences for bad behavior create a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Agree

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Agree

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Neutral

I believe in local control, limited government, and reducing federal bureaucracy. But never at the expense of students with disabilities. Protections like IDEA and Section 504 matter because they ensure students with disabilities have access to the education and accommodations they need. We can cut federal waste without adding state-level red tape or leaving families and school districts without clear accountability.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

I believe sex education in our public schools should focus on biological facts, human development, and the health benefits of abstinence. Explicit discussions of sexual acts, abortion procedures, or gender identity do not belong in the classroom. Parents should be the primary voice on these sensitive issues, and any health curriculum should be age-appropriate, transparent, and require parents to opt their child in.

It is discriminatory for a school district to cause academically eligible students to forfeit participation in U.I.L. competition when the student opts for instruction outside of the public school system.

Agree

I believe families should have educational freedom. If a student meets the same academic eligibility requirements, they should have the opportunity to participate in UIL athletics, fine arts, and other activities regardless of where they receive their instruction. These families already support our public schools through their taxes, and since state funding is based on Average Daily Attendance (ADA), districts should receive appropriate funding for the students they serve.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, American History, Physical Fitness, Art & Music, Personal Finances, Information Technology, Civics, Vocational Learning, Foreign Language

Public schools should prioritize academic achievement and building character necessary to preserve American traditions and self-government.

Agree

School choice creates competition, and that competition will push public schools to improve their educational systems.

Agree

I support school choice and believe parents should be free to choose what works best for their child. I don’t agree with how Texas structured the voucher system, including allowing private schools with operations outside Texas to participate.

VALUES

Biological males should be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My Christian faith and my family are at the heart of who I am. When my son was struck by lightning and left paralyzed, our lives changed in an instant. In moments when I didn’t know what tomorrow would bring, I learned to lean on my faith and trust God one day at a time. That journey taught me perseverance, grace, compassion, and hope. Those same values are why I believe in serving others, listening to people, standing firm in what is right, and never forgetting that public service is about the real people and families affected by the decisions we make.

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Agree

I support the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Agree

Mental health conditions such as anorexia and gender dysphoria need to be treated, not affirmed.

Agree

School library books that have literary value, as determined by experts, should be exempt from obscenity laws.

Disagree
