I believe this is a deeply personal and complex issue, and I don't believe a simple agree or disagree answer reflects the circumstances involved.

The school should be a source of stability and support, not a substitute for the student's family, medical providers, or personal decision-making.

I think it depends on the situation. I understand the concern that broad student loan forgiveness can put a burden on people who never had student loans or who already paid theirs off. At the same time, there are cases where loan forgiveness may be helpful, especially for people who go into public service or teaching. I don't think there is a one-size-fits-all answer.

I think government funding for education is a good thing, especially when it comes from the NC Education Lottery. The lottery already provides funding for Pre-K, public schools, school construction, and college scholarships across North Carolina. I believe those funds should continue to be used to give our students more opportunities and strengthen our schools.

I believe separation of church and state means that public schools should not force a particular religion or belief on students. At the same time, students should be free to practice their faith and express their beliefs without being treated differently.

I believe there needs to be a clear protocol when it comes to immigration enforcement involving our schools. Our first responsibility is to protect our students and make sure they feel safe at school

I believe students should have access to appropriate information and resources, but I also believe parents should have an important role in decisions regarding their child's health and education.

I believe consequences are important for maintaining a safe and orderly school, especially in our high schools. Students need to understand that their actions have consequences, but I don't believe every situation should be handled the same way. The response should depend on the seriousness of the behavior, and parents should be involved when appropriate. The goal should be to keep students and staff safe while also helping students learn from their mistakes.

I believe students should have a strong understanding of our country's founding documents, history, and the principles our country was built on. I also think it is important to recognize and teach about the many different cultures and people who have contributed to our country. Our students come from different backgrounds, and I would want teachers to make learning engaging by finding out what students are interested in and connecting those interests to what they are learning.

I don't believe the U.S. Department of Education should be completely eliminated. I do believe states and local communities should have a strong voice in how their schools are run, but there also needs to be accountability.

If we are going to teach sex education, I believe students should be given the full picture. That means teaching the facts, the risks, the benefits, and the possible consequences of each topic and not just one side. Students should understand abstinence, consent, contraception, anatomy, pregnancy and fetal development, and the physical and emotional outcomes of sexual activity.

I believe public schools should prioritize academic achievement and character development. I also believe students should understand the principles of our Constitution, individual rights, personal responsibility, and representative government. I would want to make sure that “American traditions” means teaching those principles while also recognizing the different cultures and backgrounds that make up our country.

I believe school choice can create healthy competition and encourage schools to improve. At the same time, I want our public schools to have the resources and support they need to be successful. If a school is struggling, we should look at what is causing the problem and work to fix it rather than simply giving up on the school or the students. Parents should have choices, but every child should still have access to a quality education.

I believe biological differences matter, especially when it comes to competitive sports. Men and women are built differently, and I think there are situations where separate spaces and activities are appropriate for fairness, privacy, and safety. I also believe everyone should be treated with respect, and these issues should be handled thoughtfully and, on a case,-by-case basis.

I am a Christian and my faith is an important part of who I am. I believe strongly in the teachings of the Bible and try to live by biblical principles such as honesty, integrity, compassion, personal responsibility, and treating others with respect.

I strongly believe parents should have the primary role in making decisions about their child's health and education because they know their child better than the government does. Schools and government can provide information, recommendations, and support, but ultimately parents should have the final say in decisions involving their child whenever possible.

I agree with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s belief that people should be judged by their character and not the color of their skin. I believe everyone should have the same opportunities to succeed, regardless of whether they are Black, Mexican, White, or any other background. We should treat people as individuals and give everyone a fair opportunity based on their character, effort, and abilities.

I believe marriage is a God-ordained and sacred union between one man and one woman. At the same time, I don't believe in judging or mistreating others because of their personal choices. I believe we can hold to our own faith and values while still treating everyone with respect and kindness.

At the same time, I don't think we should dismiss what a person is experiencing or tell them that their feelings aren't real. I don't think there is anything wrong with being asked for identification when voting. I believe people should be able to prove who they are, but everyone should have reasonable access to an acceptable form of ID. If someone doesn't have a driver's license, especially seniors or people who can't afford one, there should be a way for them to get a free ID so that identification requirements don't prevent anyone from exercising their right to vote.

I don't believe teachers and other school staff should carry firearms in school. There is always a concern that a student could get access to a weapon. We already have trained school resource officers who are armed and whose job is to help protect our schools.
