While I absolutely support the right of Planned Parenthood to operate in the state, funding is a much more complicated question. To support funding, I would need to see compelling evidence that funding would be necessary.

I personally do not support elective abortion other than in a very small handful of instances such as sexual assault, incest, or a pregnancy in a minor. I also do not believe that I should be the person making those healthcare decisions for others. My belief is that abortion is a highly personal decision that needs to be considered by the pregnant individual and their healthcare team.

To me, free enterprise and private property rights are essential to a well-functioning economy. These are non-negotiable.

I think that the best place to start to eliminate government waste would be to have agency leaders rank their spend from crucial down to discretionary. That can be used to determine areas on which to focus our efforts. I would also try to get agencies to work collaboratively in sourcing to obtain improved vendor pricing and eliminate unnecessary duplicative orders. Finally, I would demand transparency so that everyone can easily see how tax dollars are being spent.

I fully support the separation of church and state and believe it to be a foundational principle of the United States. Provided that a church is operating within the law, I believe that the government should stay out of church affairs. Similarly, other than providing written or verbal guidance to its members, I do not believe that any church should be involved in government affairs.

As long as the individual or business is not providing an essential service, I believe that the individual or business has the right to make their own decisions about to whom to provide services. Essential services are different. Due to their essential nature, they need to be provided in all situations.

Healthcare is a huge problem in the United States and in Minnesota. I do not necessarily support universal healthcare, but I do believe that it should be carefully considered. Currently, the statement above that most closely aligns with my view is healthcare funding by the government should be available along with private options. In general, I support increased competition in the marketplace which I believe that this plan would provide.

China has the world's second largest economy. That being said, they are an obvious threat to the United States. Further, China has a much stronger history of spending on various types of investment rather than on consumption as in the United States. The fact that China does hold so much U.S. debt, I believe, has created a situation in which China is incented to see continued economic success in the United States.

Israel is the most important ally to the United States in the Middle East. That backing has resulted in Israel acting with reckless impunity in the region, almost to where it has become a terrorist state to its neighbors. I would strongly advise the diplomatic team working with Israel suggest that Israel reign in its inhumane treatment of its neighbors or suffer a large decrease in aid received from the United States. Sometimes friends need to hold friend accountable.

To me, this question reflects a lack of understanding of the role of the U.S. Department of Education. The Department of Education is an administrative organization that provides very little oversight of state and local educational policy. I believe that individual states and local communities should continue to control their own educational policy.

I do not like the way that this question is worded with the use of "urgent". I do believe that climate change is real. I do not believe that it is an elaborate hoax concocted by literal experts in their field. I wish that it were not an issue facing the country and world, but I believe that there is simply too much evidence that it is real from the increasing levels of global temperatures, to the increasing incidence of natural disasters, to fresh water shortages, to melting polar ice.

In my opinion, the most reliable energy source is a diversified energy source including domestic oil and natural gas along with various forms of renewable energy including hydro, wind, and solar along with possibly nuclear and fusion.

I very much believe in personal freedom and do not wish to have the government mandating the way that my family and I live our lives. I am a strong supporter of capitalism and definitely support the United State's armed forces and first responders. That said, I also do believe that we need guardrails so that no individual or group amasses so much power that they have undue influence on the majority of people.

I believe that the criminal justice system should protect law abiding citizens. It is designed to keep dangerous individuals away from normal society for a period of time. I corollary goal of criminal justice should be reform, so that when former prisoners are released, those released individuals are rehabilitated so that they do not reoffend. There should be a more clear path for former inmates to reintegrate into society following release beyond simply checking in with a probation officer.

The strong concept of separation of church and state in the United States essentially means that Sharia law would never be enacted.

I strongly believe in Second Amendment rights. I also believe that certain types of weapons should be limited to use by the armed forces and police force. I believe that there should be a limit regarding how much capacity any one individual can possess, but I do not have a specific recommendation for the amount.
