This is a health issue for a vulnerable demographic. Our state just received an 'F' grade from SEICUS. We need resources to help this vulnerable demographic when the resources we have aren't working.

These are always complicated issues and should be taken on a case by case basis. While I am against abortion in principle, I believe this should be a decision between a patient (and family) and a doctor. Not a patient, a doctor, and a politician.

These are complicated issues. Every human life deserves legal protections including the mother. These decisions should not be made lightly and there is no room in a consultation office for a politician.

Our last minimum wage increase happened in 2008. Cumulative US inflation since then is roughly 55%. If the minimum wage had just kept pace with inflation it would need to be $11.25/hr today. I support increasing the minimum wage.

I wholeheartedly agree. The more 'free' a market is from government intervention, the better it performs. Unfortunately today, our tax code and legal code have meddled in the free market and created an unfair playing field that favors the wealthiest with access to power. We need to reduce government intervention in the markets and simplify the tax code.

If it uses taxpayer money, it gets audited regularly by an independent auditor and it is accountable to results. We enforce the laws on the books with penalties for non-compliance. A name is attached to every dollar that passes through so we know who to hold responsible. The recent audit of Medicaid to the state showed that more than half of the money was taken by hospitals and administrators before it reached the patients it was intended for. We cap the amount that can go to administration.

Marginalized groups deserve protections as well as individuals and businesses. We have anti-discrimination laws and those laws need to be followed. If it isn't a protected class, the individuals or businesses should be able to choose whom they serve.

B is what I most align with. Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege. It is tragic that so many people can't afford to visit a medical provider when they are ill. This causes more strain on Medicaid and Medicare and actually leads to higher costs. When we have money for corporate bailouts, policing the world with our military, and a tax code that benefits the wealthiest, but when it comes to citizens needing healthcare we say, sorry but no. That is a broken system that needs fixed.

The question is worded to elicit a response. There are many geo-political regions that pose threats to the US and the global economy. We need a strong defense and we need to be aware of all regions and risks. We also need competent people in office to make decisions on mitigating those risks.

We have believed for years that Israel was an important stabilizing country in the region. Today it is debatable if they are the stabilizer or the instigator. We need to maintain relationships with all countries and make decisions based on the leaders in office and the changing landscape. Isolating Israel as the only important relationship seems to be short sighted.

Undocumented persons have rights and we need to follow the law when dealing with them. Should they be protected from facing the laws by escaping to sanctuary cities within the United States, no. The growth and existence of sanctuary cities has resulted from the immigration and customs agents not following the law. I believe in the humane treatment of people and in following the law.

One of the vital functions of the Department of Education is providing Title I funding for low-income schools, funding for special education, and enforcing civil rights. Those are critical functions. Education is the foundation to a strong community. Eliminating this could create a situation where only the wealthy get a quality education and would erode the idea of America being a 'land of opportunity'. If you are born poor in Canada today you are twice as likely to 'make it' than you do here

Foreign students' tuition and philanthropic gifts from allied countries fund a lot of ordinary research and scholarship with no plausible security angle. A blanket prohibition could cut off legitimate international academic exchange and research funding. Transparency matters and restricting adversarial nations like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea from funding American education is smart.

Parents are the primary decision makers for their kids and that includes school choice and involvement in curriculum. However, when public dollars are spent there needs to be accountability and transparency for taxpayers. Parental rights and public accountability both matter.

Our own state commissioned a review of gender-affirming care for minors. The study concluded that it lead to positive mental health outcomes and lowers suicide risk for kids with gender dysphoria. Calling that abuse contradicts the evidence our own experts discovered. Families and doctors should be making these decisions together, not families, doctors, and politicians. Utah ranks in the worst third of states for teen suicide.

I have a queer son. Who he loves isn't something I get to pick for him, any more than someone else gets to pick who I love. Stay out of my bedroom and I'll stay out of yours. That goes for government as well. Marriage is between the two people who choose each other and no legislature gets to write my son't family out of the law.

We already have gambling in the state with organizations like DraftKings and PrizePics. As long as there are resources to handle the addictive behavior, I don't think an extra revenue source for the state would be a bad think.

I don't belong to an organized religion, but faith and values still guide how I live. I respect everyone's right to worship however they choose, or not at all. What matters most to me is treating people with dignity and respect, no matter what they believe.

I support having an ID requirement to protect the integrity of our elections. That doesn't mean we need to show up in person to prove it. Utah's mail voting system, verifying a signature and ID number works and it needs to stay in place for the elderly, disabled, and anyone else who can't easily get to a polling place. We can have secure elections and accessible ones at the same time. A name does not have to match a birth certificate. That disenfranchises married women.

What happened in the past was wrong. I don't believe that we should be having tax payers pay for the mistakes of our ancestors. Let's make real progress as a country and focus on policies that lift everyone who's struggling right now regardless of what they look like.

I agree but these should be separate questions. Biological men shouldn't compete in women's sports. Thats a fairness issue, and we need real options for everyone, not just cutting people out. When it comes to spaces like bathrooms and locker rooms, I think the better answer is expanding gender-neutral options where we can. Parents need options for their opposite sex children so they can help them in a safe space and safe spaces should be provided for everyone. Practical solutions are best.

There is no question that we are having an impact on our environment. Water levels in the Great Salt Lake are critically low and endangering the entire area. We need forward thinking government intervention to ensure long term stability for our region.

I believe renewable clean energy is important if it is reliable and cost-effective for ratepayers. I'm also open to clean nuclear power as part of the mix. Utah families need energy that is reliable and affordable.

I am a fiscal conservative and I have voted on both sides of the ballot my entire life. I also believe strongly in social responsibility. We need both sides to communicate more effectively to achieve a better outcome. Politics is a spectrum of ideas and I believe we are usually in agreement with a majority of the most important issues. Let's find ways to work together on critical issues to achieve outcomes that actually move the needle for Utahns.

I agree, and this is already true under our Constitution for every faith. No religious law, whether it's Sharia, canon law, or anything else, can override the Constitution or federal and state law. That protection applies equally to everyone, and I don't think we should single out one religion when the rule already covers us all the same way."

I believe in the Second Amendment, and I'm a responsible gun owner myself. That doesn't mean we can't put reasonable guardrails in place to protect our kids. I support things like safe storage requirements so firearms don't end up in the wrong hands, complete background checks on every sale, and keeping guns away from people who've shown they're a danger to themselves or others. Protecting our kids and protecting our rights aren't opposites. We can do both
