RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
I am pro choice, and my faith teaches me to show compassion, protect dignity and care for people facing difficult decisions. I do not believe government should cut off healthcare funding simply because a provider also offers abortion services. Matthew 7:12 teaches us to treat others as we would want to be treated, and I believe women deserve access to healthcare, support and the freedom to make deeply personal decisions according to their own conscience.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I believe elective abortion should remain legal early in pregnancy, with decisions made by the woman in consultation with her doctor. Later in pregnancy, I support reasonable limits, with exceptions for the life or serious health of the mother, rape, incest, and severe or fatal fetal abnormalities.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Neutral
I believe life is sacred and comes from the Creator. We have a responsibility to respect life, family and the natural cycle from birth to death. I also believe there comes a point when medicine should not interfere with the natural passing of a person. End of life decisions should be made with dignity, prayer, family and respect for the wishes of the person, allowing them to return to the Creator in peace.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Neutral
I believe human embryos deserve respect and should not be treated as disposable. At the same time, I support IVF and do not believe government should criminalize families or doctors making difficult fertility decisions. We should encourage responsible handling of embryos while protecting access to fertility treatment and respecting deeply personal medical choices.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Neutral
My faith teaches me to value human life, but it also teaches respect for the rule of law. The Comstock Act is a federal law, and its application to abortion medication should be determined through the courts and our constitutional process. As a Nevada legislator, my responsibility is to uphold Nevada law, protect Nevadans, and respect the proper roles of state and federal government.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
I believe if you put in a full day’s work, you ought to get a fair day’s pay. Minimum wage should keep up with the real cost of living so working people can cover the basics, take care of their families and have a fair shot at getting ahead.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Neutral
I believe people should have the freedom to own property, build a business and benefit from their hard work. Free enterprise creates opportunity and rewards initiative. Government should protect property rights, keep the playing field fair and avoid unnecessary rules that make it harder for families and small businesses to succeed.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
1. Audit agencies and contracts and cut programs that do not produce results. 2. Hold contractors accountable for delays, overruns and unnecessary change orders. 3. Eliminate duplicate programs and outdated bureaucracy. 4. Make government spending transparent and easy for taxpayers to track. 5. Modernize services so government works faster and costs less.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
To me, separation of church and state means government should stay out of telling people what to believe or how to worship. My faith helps shape who I am and the values I carry, but I represent everybody. Government should protect your right to believe, your right not to believe and your right to live according to your conscience.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Neutral
I believe people should be free to live according to their conscience and faith, but that freedom is not unlimited when a business serves the public. No one should be forced to personally endorse beliefs they disagree with, but customers should still be treated fairly and protected from discrimination.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
I believe everyone should have access to primary care, regardless of income or insurance status. A basic public option should cover primary and preventive care, while people remain free to choose private insurance, specialists and additional coverage. The goal should be keeping people healthy before they end up in the emergency room.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Disagree
I think government can use anonymous health data to understand costs and improve care, but I do not want a government list of people and their medical conditions. Your medical history is private. Government should use the information it needs without keeping tabs on people.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
I believe China is our greatest long term strategic competitor. Their military, cyber capabilities, technology and industrial capacity have advanced rapidly. America needs to take that threat seriously by protecting our technology, rebuilding domestic manufacturing and making sure our military stays ahead.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. Israel is an important strategic ally in a dangerous region and our relationship strengthens American security, intelligence and regional stability. I support Israel’s right to defend itself while also believing strong allies should be able to speak honestly with one another and work toward lasting peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Neutral
I believe local police should focus on keeping communities safe, not acting as federal immigration agents. People should be able to report crimes, cooperate with police and seek help without fear. At the same time, violent criminals should not be shielded from lawful federal enforcement.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Disagree
I believe education decisions should be made as close to parents, teachers and local communities as possible. States should have more flexibility, but I do not support eliminating the Department of Education entirely. The federal government still has a role in protecting student rights, supporting special education and helping ensure every child has a fair opportunity.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Agree
Foreign governments should not be able to use money to influence what American students are taught. I support academic exchange and international partnerships, but funding should be transparent and should never come with political strings attached or give a foreign government influence over curriculum, research, or campus policy.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Parents should have the primary role in directing their child’s education, health and upbringing. Government and schools have responsibilities too, especially for safety and basic standards, but they should work with parents, not replace them. Parental rights should be respected while protecting the well being of the child.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Disagree
I do not believe supporting a child through questions about gender automatically constitutes abuse. Parents, doctors and mental health professionals should be involved in age appropriate decisions, with the child’s safety and well being first. These are serious family and medical decisions, not something government should label with one blanket definition.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Disagree
I believe marriage is sacred, but Scripture also teaches us to love one another and treat people with dignity. My faith guides my own beliefs, but government should protect equal civil rights for everyone and should not impose one religious interpretation of marriage on all Americans.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Agree
Gaming is a cornerstone of Nevada’s economy, and I support responsible growth that creates good jobs and strengthens our communities. At the same time, Nevada cannot depend on one industry. We should keep growing gaming while expanding manufacturing, technology, energy, healthcare and other industries that build a stronger, more resilient economy.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised in the Christian faith, and that foundation still matters to me. I believe in God, personal responsibility, serving others and standing up for people who need a voice. Faith is not a label or something you wear on your sleeve. It shows up in how you live, how you treat people and whether you are willing to do the right thing when it costs you something. I believe in grace, accountability and loving your neighbor, but I also believe faith should give you the backbone to stand firm when something is wrong.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I support voter ID, but government should make sure every eligible voter can get an acceptable ID for free. Election security and access to the ballot should not be competing goals. We can protect the integrity of our elections without making it harder for lawful voters to participate.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Neutral
I’m not comfortable with blanket reparations based solely on race. I do believe this country has to own its history and address specific wrongs caused by government policy. There’s a difference between honoring real obligations and simply writing checks based on race. Fix what government actually broke, keep the promises that were made, and make sure people have a fair opportunity going forward.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Neutral
I believe everyone deserves dignity and equal treatment. In competitive sports, biological differences after male puberty can create real advantages, and fairness for female athletes matters. But bathrooms, shelters, prisons and other spaces raise different questions of privacy and safety. I believe those issues should be handled with common sense, fairness and respect for everyone involved.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Agree
I believe man made climate change is real and deserves serious action. In Nevada, we see the effects in our water supply, extreme heat and energy challenges. I support practical solutions like cleaner energy, conservation, better infrastructure and new technology without putting unnecessary costs on working families.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
There isn’t one source that can do it all. Nevada needs a reliable mix of geothermal, solar with storage and natural gas, while investing in transmission and new technology. Reliability, affordability and water use all have to matter.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
I’m a moderate, old school Democrat with a little maverick in me. I believe in working people, personal freedom, responsibility, strong families and putting country before party. I’ll work with anyone who has a good idea, and I’m not afraid to stand up to my own side when I think they’re wrong.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No. I have never been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No. I have never been convicted of a felony.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
The goal should be simple: keep people safe, hold offenders accountable and treat victims with respect. Violent criminals need real consequences, but people who can be rehabilitated should have a path to turn their lives around. Justice should be firm, fair and focused on making our communities safer.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Government has a clear responsibility to protect children from online sexual exploitation. We should aggressively pursue predators, traffickers and those who exploit minors, while holding online platforms accountable when they knowingly allow abuse. We can protect children without giving government unlimited access to everyone’s private communications.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Agree
The Constitution and American law must remain the highest civil authority. No religious code, whether Sharia law, canon law or any other faith tradition, should override constitutional rights or American law. People are free to practice their faith, but government should apply one set of laws equally to everyone.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I support the Second Amendment and the rights of law abiding gun owners. I also support universal background checks, keeping firearms away from violent felons and domestic abusers, safe storage, and red flag laws with strong due process. We should enforce the laws we have and focus on people who are a real danger, not punish responsible gun owners.
