2ND AMENDMENT
Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.
Neutral
While I agree theoretically with the concept of an armed staff, I have concerns about what qualifies a staff member to carry and use lethal force on a school campus. Schools are already unique environments that require a focused, calm and centered mindset; the addition of stressors that accompany an active shooter usually require substantial reactive training. Not everyone responds well under pressure. An armed staff must be comprised of those who will absolutely respond appropriately.
