QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

The state Board of Education has no authority over abortion. I believe organizations like Planned Parenthood should be eligible for public funding for the legitimate health-care services they provide.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Personally, I trust women to make their own reproductive health decisions—not politicians.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Disagree

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Agree

I believe human embryos have value and deserve respect and ethical consideration. At the same time, I believe decisions involving reproductive healthcare and fertility treatment should be approached with compassion, science, and respect for individuals and families.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Disagree

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Texas should raise the minimum wage. Full-time workers, including essential school staff like bus drivers, aides, custodians, and cafeteria workers, deserve pay that covers basic living costs.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

As a State Board of Education candidate, I find this very important. We need to eliminate government Waste in TEA. Increase Transparency and accountability- put tax dollars toward results, streamline the education bureaucracy, and improve the review process.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

To me, separation of church and state means protecting religious freedom for everyone. I respect every student’s and family’s right to practice their faith—or no faith at all. Public schools belong to all Texans, not one religion. We should teach about religion’s role in history, literature, and society, while keeping a clear line between education and promoting religious beliefs.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

I believe in both religious freedom and equal protection. Individuals should have the freedom to hold and practice their religious beliefs, but businesses that serve the public should not be allowed to use religion as a blanket justification for discrimination or denying people equal access to goods and services.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

I believe healthcare is a basic right, and everyone should have access to affordable, quality healthcare, regardless of income or health status. We should move toward universal healthcare with a government-funded option while preserving private choices. I’ve experienced health challenges myself, and no one should have to worry about whether they can afford to see a doctor or pay a medical bill when they are sick.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Agree

I support sanctuary cities as a way to protect undocumented people from unjust deportation and ensure they can access essential services without fear. However, sanctuary policies should not shield individuals who commit serious crimes.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Disagree

States and local communities should have meaningful control over their schools, but eliminating the U.S. Department of Education would put critical funding, special education services, and civil rights protections at risk. We need a balance: local and state autonomy in how we educate our students, with a strong federal partner that provides resources, protects students’ rights, and ensures every child has access to a quality public education.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Agree

I agree, with reasonable safeguards. Foreign governments should not directly fund or influence American public education in ways that compromise our independence, curriculum, research, or students’ privacy. We should require transparency and independent review while protecting academic freedom, civil rights, and equal access to quality education. Legitimate international partnerships and cultural exchanges should continue when publicly disclosed and free from political influence.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Agree

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Disagree

I believe children deserve to be protected from abuse and irreversible medical procedures, but I do not believe that a parent supporting a child’s gender identity or allowing a child to socially express that identity should automatically be classified as child abuse.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

I believe marriage is a personal and legal commitment between consenting adults

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a practicing Catholic, and my faith guides me to lead with kindness, compassion, fairness, and grace. I believe all people are created equal and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I believe in “love thy neighbor” and strive to live that out by serving others and treating people as I would want to be treated. I value our country’s freedom to practice the faith—or no faith—that we choose. We can hold firmly to our own beliefs while respecting those who believe differently. That freedom, respect, and kindness are what make America special.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

I support making voting secure and accessible. I don’t have a problem with voters providing photo identification, but if photo ID is required to vote, it should be available to every eligible voter at no cost. We should never create a financial or logistical barrier that keeps someone from exercising their right to vote. Protecting election integrity is important, but voter ID is only one part of that conversation.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I support the Second Amendment and responsible gun ownership, but we must protect our children and communities. I support universal background checks, secure firearm storage, reasonable waiting periods, and temporary court-ordered restrictions for those who pose a demonstrated danger. We must also improve access to mental health care and intervention so people in crisis can get help before tragedy occurs.
