QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

At the same time, difficult circumstances can arise, so laws and policies should allow for careful medical, ethical, and legal consideration in exceptional cases, with appropriate safeguards to protect both human life and individual well-being.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

From my experience as an educator and mental health therapist, my emphasis on helping students develop critical-thinking skills and connecting them with supportive resources reflects a prevention and empowerment-oriented approach. Our school's responsibility is to help students understand their options, consider the consequences of their choices, and access appropriate support systems, while recognizing that medical decisions ultimately belong to the student, family, and healthcare professionals within the framework of applicable laws. At my last school I worked, my role was to educate, support, connect students with resources, and encourage informed decision-making not to make medical decisions for students or families.

ECONOMY

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Neutral

I do understand Student loan forgiveness can unfairly shift the financial burden to taxpayers and individuals who did not incur student debt or who have already repaid their loans. Professions that serve the public good such as teachers, social workers, counselors, and certain healthcare professionals can be justified. Many of these careers require extensive education, unpaid internships, or practicum experiences while offering relatively modest salaries.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I am a product of public school education. Public education should be broadly funded from Pre-K through high school, with significant government support for higher education, particularly for students entering essential public service fields such as teaching, counseling, healthcare, and social work. Government investment should expand opportunity while preserving individual responsibility and accountability.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

With regard to public schools, what does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

As a Christian with strong faith and biblical values and I support students' right to express their religious beliefs in public schools. However, my faith also teaches me to respect those who hold different beliefs. Public schools should neither promote nor prohibit religion. Instead, they should focus on education, critical thinking, character development, and respect for diverse viewpoints, while religious instruction remains the responsibility of families and faith communities.

IMMIGRATION

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enhances the safety and security of communities by identifying and detaining illegal aliens.

Neutral

Immigration enforcement should stay out of our public schools. Schools should be safe environments where students can focus on learning without fear or anxiety about immigration. The primary mission of public schools is to educate, support, and prepare students for success. Any actions that disrupt learning, create fear, or discourage attendance can undermine that mission.

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Disagree

Schools should provide students with accurate, age-appropriate health information and connect families to community resources when needed. However, providers of abortion services or gender-affirming medical treatments should not serve as primary providers of instruction in public schools. Schools should focus on education and helping students and families make informed decisions, while medical services and treatment decisions remain the responsibility of families, healthcare professionals.

Consequences for bad behavior create a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Agree

As a former mental health therapist, I always educate families to use the word negative instead of the word bad. Consequences for inappropriate behavior are necessary to create a safe, respectful, and orderly learning environment. Students learn best when expectations are clear and consistently enforced. While discipline should be fair, age-appropriate, and focused on teaching responsibility, schools must maintain standards that protect the learning and well-being of all students.

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Agree

Educators should provide students with a strong understanding of America's founding documents, constitutional principles, and civic institutions. Schools should also foster appreciation for the nation's history, freedoms, and responsibilities while encouraging critical thinking and respectful discussion of different perspectives.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Disagree

I do not support completely eliminating the U.S. Department of Education. Doing so would be similar to arguing that we should eliminate the presidency and leave all governance to the states. While states and local communities should have significant control over education, there is still an important role for federal leadership in protecting civil rights, promoting educational equity, supporting students with disabilities, and ensuring that all students have access to quality educational.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

Sexual education should be age-appropriate, medically accurate, and focused on helping students make informed and responsible decisions. Parents should play a significant role in their children's sexual education. Schools should partner with families, provide transparency about curriculum content, and respect parents' rights to guide their children's values and beliefs regarding sensitive topics. While schools can provide information, parents should remain the primary influence.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

Language Arts Mathematics Science Civics American History Personal Finances Information Technology Vocational Learning Physical Fitness Art & Music Foreign Language Social Emotional Learning Critical Race Theory Political Activism Public schools should focus first on core academic subjects, civic knowledge, practical life skills, and career readiness. Schools should teach students how to think critically, while respecting diverse background.

Public schools should prioritize academic achievement and building character necessary to preserve American traditions and self-government.

Neutral

Public schools should prioritize academic excellence, civic responsibility, and character development. Students should gain the knowledge, critical-thinking skills, and values necessary to become productive citizens, preserve our constitutional principles, and contribute to self-government and their communities.

School choice creates competition, and that competition will push public schools to improve their educational systems.

Disagree

I do not believe school choice necessarily creates meaningful competition that improves public education. Unlike businesses, schools serve all students, including those with diverse academic, behavioral, and special needs. The focus should be on adequately funding schools, supporting teachers, engaging families, and implementing evidence-based practices that improve student outcomes. Strong public schools are built through collaboration and investment, not simply through competition.

VALUES

Biological males should be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian with strong faith and biblical values. My beliefs emphasize love, compassion, service to others, personal responsibility, integrity, and respect for all people. My faith guides both my personal and professional life, and I believe in treating others with dignity, extending grace, and serving my community while respecting the diverse beliefs and backgrounds of others.

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Agree

I support the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Agree

Mental health conditions such as anorexia and gender dysphoria need to be treated, not affirmed.
