QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Agree
Public dollars should not subsidize organizations that perform elective abortions. Legitimate women’s health care, including any care needed to protect the life of the mother, is available through community providers that do not, and funding should follow those.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
When a medical circumstance endangers the life of the mother and she and her physician agree on that determination.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Neutral
I place real value on embryonic life and do not treat it casually. I also recognize that families turn to these methods in good faith to have children. My preference is policy that encourages preserving, donating, or placing embryos for adoption rather than destroying them, built around those alternatives rather than blanket mandates.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Agree
The exception is a drug with legitimate non-abortion uses that is being transported for one of those purposes.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
The minimum wage both helps and hurts workers. It guards against exploitation, but it also prices out those willing to work for less to gain experience, and when set too high it pushes employers to substitute capital for labor and cut jobs.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
First, positions carried vacant for years while still budgeted. Second, discretionary travel and furnishing costs. Third, and most consequential, program structure: capital projects approved without accounting for their maintenance costs, and programs designed without reference to what they actually cost to run. Sound decisions require costing programs honestly at the front end.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The state does not endorse a particular religion and does not interfere with private religious practice.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
Unless someone is being funded by public dollars to provide a service, a private business has the right to refuse to provide a service
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C. Medicaid and Medicare should remain, with a narrow exception for genuine emergencies; beyond that, no new taxpayer-funded programs.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Neutral
Government should not be tracking people. Tracking a disease may be defensible; tracking individuals is not. Any narrow public-health exception should require informed consent.
iVoterGuide Notes:
The candidate notified iVoterGuide after evaluations were complete that the intended answer is "Disagree, Government should not be tracking people. Tracking a disease may be defensible; tracking individuals is not. Any narrow public-health exception should require informed consent."
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Agree
The state legislature does not deal with foreign policy- it operates within a framework established by the federal government.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. The US-Israel relationship matters-- Israel is our closest ally in a volatile region. State legislators don't set foreign policy, but I would not support measures that single out Israel or any ally without just cause.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Disagree
People should come here legally. Immigration policy is not set at the state level.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
Education is a function of state government, not federal, under the 10th Amendment. Block grants to states would let them innovate and pursue policies suited to their region.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Neutral
Foreign governments should fund their own students where the expectation is that the student returns home. This belongs on a case-by-case basis, tied to the research mission of the institution.
iVoterGuide Notes:
The candidate notified iVoterGuide after evaluations were complete that the intended answer is, "Agree, Foreign governments should fund their own students where the expectation is that the student returns home. This belongs on a case-by-case basis, tied to the research mission of the institution."
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Agree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Neutral
My own conviction reflects my faith. As a matter of civil law, the definition has been settled by the courts, and I am not running to relitigate it.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Neutral
Local communities are the right place to decide this. People will gamble, and many leave the state to do so. If a community wants to capture those dollars, that is for its residents to decide.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian and align closely with the Baptist faith. I believe in daily Bible reading and prayer.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Voter ID is essential to voter security.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Disagree
I do not believe climate change is comprehensively the result of human action. The state does, however, need a readiness posture for natural disasters.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
For the Interior, clean coal and natural gas are the clear answer. Solar is a useful supplement, but the sun does not shine in the months energy is most needed.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
To keep dangerous people away from the public. Some offenders can be rehabilitated and some cannot, and the system should be honest about the difference.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Agree
Government has a role, but the ultimate authority over the child is the parent, and the state is limited in what it can do in a parent’s place.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Agree
U.S. law governs in the United States. The practice of Islam does not require incorporating a parallel legal code into American law.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Responsible gun ownership rests on training and safe handling, not on disarming the law-abiding citizen. I support NICS checks tied to criminal history and oppose restrictions that burden lawful owners
